My uncle bought his wife one of those M45’s back in the day, relatively new I believe. They always loved it basically used it as a muscle car driving from the kootneys to Calgary frequently
Definitely a weird looking rice

| EDIT: SOLD - less than 3 hours.
not my car - but readily admit that this belongs to a good buddy (a few of us here know him)
transaxles are appreciating rapidly. I think you could easily drive this for free for a few years. Unfortunately I can't quick sale anything fast enough to take it, and I'm in the negative parking spaces right now. https://vancouver.craigslist.org/van...456124825.html

Nice, too bad it’s not a turbo but with pricing now a turbo that nice would be $25,000+
I’ve been wanting a 968 for awhile but they’re hard to find and prices have doubled in the last year |

Can anyone provide some tips / experience on buying a car from far away? I'm interested in a car that's a decently long drive away but don't know how to assess the car remotely. Pay for an inspection remotely? Deposit down to hold the car? If it works out I'd eventually go out and drive it home. It's a private seller and not a dealer if that matters.

depends - it it was a porsche for example, I'd reach out through the PCA to see who the preferred local shop is.
also depends on value - i've gone the island to buy cars multiple times. you just have to sort of know what you're looking for and try to get some good info from the seller ahead of time. worst case scenario is a pointless ferry ride.
personally - i've never bought without getting eyes on at some point. I've bailed, after some long road trips - but that's still better than buying unseen like an auction purchase for example.
nobody's going to snake your buy - give us more detailed info to better help you. maybe somebody here knows a shop in the town you're talking about.

that's not too far. you could ask the seller to take it for an inspection - any of the main dealers would do an inspection for you for the basic stuff - BCAA would too. PG means it's might not get used year round. If it's low mileage and stored half the year - even better.
personally, if the seller could show you extensive maintenance history - and it was the car you really wanted, go for it. Do the buyers guide research so you can ask specific questions about trouble spots. Worst case is you get there - don't like it and pass. Hop back on the plane and chalk it up to an adventure.
Good luck! sounds like it could make a great story.

Contrary to what others say here, if I really want a car and it's far away:
I ask for high resolution photos of outside and inside by email
Talk to the guy over the phone, and verify everything by phone. So many people say clean title or xx,xxx kms, then you go there, and find out it's actually a rebuilt with xx,xxx miles.
If that checks out for me, I yolo it and just drive down there and buy the car. (Assuming the test drive goes well)
I've had 28 cars, never done an inspection on one.
This has burned me once heavily
The one time I bought a car from a dealership and it has a "certified 160point inspection" or whatever, 8000$ Ridgeline, after taking it to my mechanic for an oil change, he told me to return the car to the dealership. Failed brake caliper, low brake pads, a 6" rust hole on the frame, amongst other minor issues.
Another 3-5 cars where it cost me an extra couple hundred to fix smaller things.
Note: all these cars are sub 20k value, and I can generally spot / feel major issues with cars when inspecting them myself.

I saw the car you're talking about... that's a BIG asking price for a 2009 NC to be honest... if the colour is special to you then hey why not, definitely looks clean... but fuck that's at least $5k more than it should be.

I would ask for a video of the power hard top just to make sure it works and doesn't sound off. Photos of the seals would be good as well since it's a convertible.

In the lower mainland, it is not uncommon to see some NC1's (with mileage that isn't even that low), go for low to mid 20's. I was/am looking for one too. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/...ing/1600783666 |

It's challenging getting schedules of things lined up with PG seemingly being more of a town where people come and go. Next step is either getting the seller to take it to a dealer for a PPI or at the very least have our revscene friend take a look...
I don't have high hopes for this working out, but I'm doing what I can.
