Not a good buy, looks like it has gone though hell and back, and still looks like hell.

Supposedly a Canadian spec ITR

Panel gaps all over the place, crappy repaint.

Questionable after market Recaro seats.

Tries to compare it with BAT listed cars :lawl:

Saw it yesterday, the opening price was like $49,000 ... was going to post it in the CL Failed section.

I think at his 'reduced' price of $36,500 .. it still might belong there.

twitchyzero 04-12-2022 09:22 PM

not sure about price but pretty neat

FMR 4WD 7.5k redline, but 3spd auto lol

I hope these get a bit more affordable soon.

I think that ship has sailed

Yea I don't get the pricing on those slk/clk. E55, cls55, cl55 even some early e63s can be had for low 20s. And those have more features. :okay:

They made a lot more E55s and E63s. 12,993 E55 sedans sold from 2003-2006. Also, they have had direct replacements for the last 15 years. The 2021 E63s is a great machine.

They only sold 1119 CLK63 convertibles from 2007-2009. The CLK63 was never really replaced as well. The closest car would be the 2017-2021 C63S convertible which has similar power and performance (475hp vs. 503hp)

guess they weren't hot selling at all.

Financial crisis = less toys. Those SLK55s were selling like hotcakes in 2006.

That is not even a 1997 ITR. Its a 98+ ITR. 98000 kms/ kept in heated garage looking like that? I don't think so.

Oh young grasshopper.

That is indeed a 97, with 98+ spec front and rear bumpers.
And the 98K km might be from a 98+ spec cluster.
And those might not be JDM 16's. Pretty sure fake Recaro's to boot.

trollface 04-13-2022 02:11 PM

Craigslist good buy indeed.

Just by looking at pictures its not a 97. Would have to look at the identification label on the driver side door pillar. 97itr never came with rear wipers and rear spray nozzle. Usually its 98+ itr owners deleting rear wipers then they plug the rear hatch glass, but they leave the rear spray nozzle on the roof. Its too much work to remove it.

I've got the vin and ran the carfax.

its a 97.

A rebuild nonetheless.

im skeptical its even the original motor or gear box. This thing has lived a very colorful life.... like Downtown east side colorful life.

Hahah, true that. I bet it was in a rollover or something and they replace the roof with a 98+. 97 itr are rare and their replacement part is pretty much non existent. Looking at the picture its not original motor cuz the vin tag is gone on the block. There is really nothing "97itr" about it, so his point of 1/302 is moot.

it's definitely 1/1 though. what a piece of shit.

and i say that as an ITR fanboi

tofu1413 04-13-2022 09:18 PM

^ pretty much this.

Wants to display the car as rare pedigree, sell big boy numbers.

Yet it’s got ebay seats. EBay steering wheel, wrong bumpers, wrong headlights, rota Jdm 16” reps and a very shitty ad.

I’d probably burn the car down if I see it in person, give it a proper Viking death and let it end its undeserving life atm.

Oh right. And buddy guy is still driving it around on plates from out of town…. With no insurance on it.

Autorice 04-13-2022 10:56 PM

he said rebuilt due to theft. won't take trades otherwise i'd give him my ae86

You are not wrong, but it does have 01 doors, front clip, hatch, rear bumper.
We believe it has a JDM B18C motor.

Car Fax shows it was in a front end collision. Also a side collision in 05 that put it into rebuilt status. As for the theft, that's another tale to add to this story.

bcrdukes 04-14-2022 07:54 AM

Given its history is far beyond 50 shades of grey, is this still a good buy?

Def not at his asking price.
Maybe at $15K. Will def need someone who is willing to overnight parts from Japan to make it a tight car again.

Maybe in another 30 years, someone will try to rescue this barn find.

Never was even without all these things noticed. Should have been listed in failed CL post from the get go.

white rocket 04-14-2022 09:55 AM

It sucks that the market is so expensive now that even the CL "Good Buys" thread has a full page of talk about an overpriced shit-kicked ITR being sold by an asshole. Deals!!

I don't want him calling me out for wasting his time since I wasn't serious about buying the car.

LOL

320icar 04-14-2022 11:31 AM

To me what makes the itr special is the chassis. Clearly this chassis has been wrecked multiple times. Might as well be a gsr with a swap at this point hah

I'd actually offer somewhere between 10-15k.

A nice club racer/ track build. Can crash it and beat the crap out of it without feeling bad.

As long as the rear quarters are original and not cut, the rear bulk head isnt fucked and the front frame rails are original, im pretty game.

I'd make an effort to save it.
