Everyone who sold their car more than 6-8 months ago sold it too cheap compared to today... you are definitely not alone lol |
i dont think its the HP that matters anymore (EV's made damn sure of that). Its the experience. Old school cars like that IS300 or this NB miata cant be duplicated with an EV or any modern day car. Kind of like my slow ass LC.... Paying a lot of friggin money to go slow nowadays. |
LC is no slouch... what 4.7 0-100kmh? That's pretty good for its weight and relative serenity as a cruiser when you don't want to be ripping on it |

I feel it man... I mean it was still a hell of a price, but I sold my dad's 1995 MR2 Turbo to a guy in Montana for $24,000 USD about 6-7 months ago... that's as rare as MR2's get, 106 ever made... Guys are selling fuckin 91's for almost that much right now lol Granted it had about 118,000 miles on it but still probably could have gotten closer to $30k USD now for it. |
Are you guys sure, I notice these hot cars miatas, abarth, m, AMG sitting for months now. I'm sure the markets crashing and 4% interest rates aren't helping these cars sell |

For me its just the experience that matters. This LC is likely the last honest lexus/toyota before they go full EV. Kinda like buying a time capsule. A 2022 car that throws back to the muscle cars from the 60's |
IS500 / LC500 - “last of the old guard” Heck even a Mustang GT / challenger/ Camaro nowadays are that. They will go extinct real soon with the trend of powertrains heading into… |
On the topic of Lexus V8s, what's a good selling price for a GSF with 70,000 km like this one in Port Moody? I always have trouble pegging a value on GSFs given how few come up for sale. https://www.autotrader.ca/a/lexus/gs...201K9&sprx=100 |
Millage is kinda high I think pre pandemic they were high 50s, or you have a 18 ls500 for the price :considered: |
I was shopping for a Covid beater in 2020. Always loved the IS300 especially the dash that looks like a chrono watch. Richmond Automall happened to have one for $10k so I test drove it. The car felt slow and boring, like a corolla. For the same price, I ended up with a 2007 IS350 and it’s the perfect daily. Feels like driving a couch in traffic but also capable of fun times. The rear seats are too tiny for children car seats though. |
Whoa, good luck finding a IS350 that's not a rebuild or 200,000kms+ for $10k now that's a steal. 2GR is definitely a more powerful engine. Drinks just as much gas (if not more) as the old i6 too! |
I’ve said this time and time again, the interior of the is250/350 is tiiiny! Just look where they had to shove your window switches. I could never daily one |

I've never understood why people paid so much for them |
It's just a good, reliable car? My cousin has a 2001 IS300 with 420,000 miles (not KMs) on it on its original chassis and engine and it's a daily driver in LA traffic. |

I have to say though, literally every single time I talk to ANY guy... whether they're a car person or not... every dude says "I always liked the way that car looked / always wanted one back in the day"... Conversely, almost every girl doesn't like it... or they like the front but they hate the "ugly red dots" on the back trunk lol Just something I've noticed in the 7 years I've had mine... I like the way the interior looks on the newer ones, but like someone mentioned above they're hella claustrophobic. I don't think I would pay today's prices for one tbh. |
Over the 250/350? Same as an e46 over an e90. They are just more engaging. They also look WAY better IMO, but that’s subjective of course. Keep in mind nostalgia makes things desirable as well. People lusted after these cars in high school and now have money for a toy. That’s less likely with the younger demographic that was wanting the is250/350 when they came out. They will probably have their day in 5 years or so. |
I don't get the hype of the 1 IS either. Apparently they are pigs on gas, the Mt is a Tacoma truck transmission. I sat in one and it's pretty cramped. 2is was better, is350 is pretty fast, but still dunno why the back seats are so small. I've had w202, w203, and been in e46, e90 sedans and they are no where near being that cramped. |

I think the appeal of the OG IS is because of its modability. I remember reading import tuner and they had a lot of these running 500-600whp with just a simple bolt on turbo. Its kinda like the 240sx s13/14. Out of the box they were OKAY, but once you strap some stuff to it, it becomes amazing. Unfortunately i think my buddy is going to keep this thing stock (:suspicious:) i doubt it though.. |
well when you look at the product line up for Toyota / lexus around those end of 99' beginning of 2000s that 1 gen IS was probably the most interesting performance car they had. Celica GTS was ok..... MR-S was... under powered and underwhelming. The beams powered 3S cars from Japan were basically seen as 4 door ae86's and the north american car were four door NA Supras. Gotta say though, those IS300 looks have aged quite well |

If I was going to go the 3UZ or single turbo route I wouldn't do it to the one I currently have... |
my buddys in the same boat as me.. we never went through our "ricer" phase as we were pretty much broke throughout highschool and university. Now that we have a bit more money, kinda wanna put big widebody kits, giant wings and neon glow on EVERYTHING. hahaha  i wanted to do this to my wife's car. she fucking LOST IT on me |
