i went to cobs this morning to buy some fresh bread and i chatted this lady up. she said shes been waiting for 2+ years on her Rav4 Prime and it still hasnt showed up. The dealer told her initally it was 6 months, then 8, then 12, and now 2 years later still NOTHING.

Her corolla is on its last legs and she doesnt want to pay thousands of dollars to maintain it so shes hoping it'll arrive soon.

Poor bread lady, i feel bad for her. She's got some nice rolls though...

Gerbs 07-17-2022 08:21 AM

How long's the waitlist for a 911?

Rav 4 Prime is 3 - 5 years depending on dealer. Hence the $80K Used vs $47-52K MSRP.

3-4 years for a 911? It was 2 years at the beginning of the year, then 3. Probably close to 4 now.

If you go to Richmond you might get one quicker.

Badhobz 07-17-2022 08:25 AM

I didn't look at too many 911's when i was cross shopping the LC. But i do recall they had a "lease special" for 1200 a month (5k down... i think) on a 911 and a ultra stupid 8,000km a year lease. When i inquired about specing out a 911, the dude said probably 2-3 months turn around time... not too bad? go see porsche vancouver.

^why did that say pok gai tell me 2-3 months?!?! probably just wants me to throw down a deposit.

Gerbs 07-17-2022 09:33 AM

8,000KM to me is perfect, I drive around there across all 3 cars.

JDMDreams 07-17-2022 09:52 AM

Did you look into the AMG GTS when you shopped for the LC? Still looks sexy as fuck wherever I see one.

But yes RS ballers leasing 911s in recession :ahwow:

bcrdukes 07-17-2022 10:12 AM

Leasing? RS Ballers buy with cash!

Badhobz 07-17-2022 10:47 AM

im not a huge merc fan so i never even gave it a try.

I crossed shopped these: Vantage v8 convertible (or coupe), 911, Bentley Vert v8, Ferrari Roma or Portofino

LC makes the most sense. i love GT cars so pretty much this fits the bill for everything while being a 1/2 the cost of that Ferrari and no need for 2 year wait. Oh and i wanted to buy in before Sep GST increase on anything over 100k.

eruhh lease rates are insane right now. i dont see how anyone could afford leasing these @ 6.99% a month for 48 months. The financing cost is well over 30k on a 48 month deal.

I was told 2 years for a 911 and some models like the GT3 are unavailable to buy now

Manic! 07-17-2022 11:39 AM

When my dad went to get his Porsche SUV serviced in Victoria a few months ago. They told him they are getting 3 GT3's. 2 where sold and they had 12 on a waiting list.

I think it depends on the sales person you talk to as well. Some know all the details about what's going on, others will say anything to to make the sale happen (eg. majority of salespeople selling $100k+ cars are still saying that the 10% luxury tax will be implemented on new AND used cars)

Gerbs 07-17-2022 12:37 PM

Anyone know if there's anyway to buy a GT4 in Canada at MSRP?

Assuming you're also down to wait 5+ years.

320icar 07-17-2022 01:18 PM

If this one was a manual I'd be more inclined to buy it, Electric Red is a rare color for a 3 series, this one has the sport package with much nicer sport seats super low km (119,000 km). Once one had addressed all the things that are likely to be worn out on a 289K E46 it'd probably cost the same as the low km one.

You know even pre-pandemic that a 50k suv would be on the low end of the list. I know during the ‘vid my bro and his wife god rid of their second car, both worked from home. They eventually got a new forester which is lovely, got lucky with the model they wanted on the lot.

I don’t know how many times I got texts from him about modern MSRP and how expensive cars are now! Even my wife’s flex had a sticker of like 67k…. Which we got one year old for 35? I love depreciation hahaha

Currently being introduced as a Levy, like gas guzzler tax. unavoidable even if you are tax exempt with status card.

currently on NEW cars only.

2-3 months? Provide a legal document proving they can give you said car within 3 months, if not, go after them with legal with failure to meet terms.

I have a customer that was told to trade in her car early with the promise of getting a 992 3RS next spring...........

right.......

Because you won't when you're a new walk in customer. The old school VIP's will get the cars. You ain't getting jack.

Seems like the new plug to get cars faster now... but still a wait. 2-3 years for sure for all 911's. GT3 probably getting into .2 production schedule for people that have an actual allocation

You don't. 718 is done. they are building 4RS only. upcoming Cayman is Hybrid supposedly.

just my two cents on P car world atm.

bcrdukes 07-18-2022 10:21 AM

It's confirmed the 718 is done. And yes, the next one will either be hybrid or electric.

Clarification: The 5th generation Boxster/Cayman in 2025 will be electric. The gas-powered 718 will still be sold until 2025.
