From the reviews I've watch ppl seem to say the Maserati doesn't drive that well in the city traffic we have, cuz it has no torque with such a heavy car, kinda like the e60 m5. You really need open roads inorder to open it up. I guess kinda like old VTEC Honda's. Maybe I should go test drive a quattroporte but not sure if I'll recover from it financially

Badhobz 08-27-2022 12:16 PM

take it for a spin. 1st gear, 2nd gear has plenty of torque in the city, and when you lift off throttle, it'll explode your ears. The gearing isnt that bad for city driving

Gerbs 08-27-2022 12:54 PM

Appreciate the transparency!

I'll stick to my $40K cars that require minimal maintenance and no depreciation lol. I think someday I'll trade them all in for a GT4 / Spyder / Manual V8 R8

Was it worth it

Badhobz 08-27-2022 01:02 PM

if i were to do it all again id

1) buy a properly used one. right now when these things are going for 40-50k its the best bang for the buck
2) find a good indy mechanic
3) dont baby them
4) drive the shit out of them and enjoy it everyday.
5) dont think about resale, just drive it into the ground

as with most cars, they are not investments. they all lose money. a F8 tributo is like 600k+ and after 5 years they are going for around 300k. Maybe it'll shoot up like the 458 but i doubt it. Same with lambos. Look at gallardo prices.. nobody wants ones one of those now that the Hurcan is out (exception being the manual ones).

if you have the means, and you arent a giant chicken puss like me, buy one and enjoy it. life is short.

no. LC isnt either. the only car that was worth it was my green ratrolla that cost 250 dollars a month w/ 0 down, and 0% lease rate.

But I'd do it again.... i had some great times in that car

Saw this post. Seems like a pretty good deal to me for $2500 for five Advan Racing RS wheels and some tires if it fits your car.

I'm noob tho, don't kill me if it's actually not a hot deal :lol

JDMDreams 08-27-2022 02:04 PM

Average deal, see some curbing, not sure what tires and super high offset so gonna be pretty sunk in anything you put them on.

So...was it worth it? Like dollar for dollar, do you think you could of had more fun in something else?

I've always been curious about the economics of these cars.

I mean, you could have had a gt3 and been paid to drive it. Badhobz is baller though, and there's no way to have predicted how stupid the market would get for certain cars.

Badhobz 08-27-2022 09:38 PM

I don’t think like that. I just buy the cars I like even though they make no financial sense.

Often they aren’t the fastest or the prettiest or even remotely worth the money but they speak to me. As west says, I could have bought a super beetle and made out far better but I really dislike 911s. Not sure why, but its some deep seated dislike. I love bmws and vws though, so its not a anti German thing.

Dollar for dollar I had the most fun in my green Corolla. I drove the living piss out of that thing and would race anyone and everyone.

trollface 08-27-2022 09:48 PM

Do you win often

Badhobz 08-27-2022 09:56 PM

Of course! I always win because nobody was even racing or expecting to race a ratrolla LE.

I wanted a CE but they convinced me to go luxury and opt for the heated seats.

Doesn't seem like a horrible buy dollar figure wise... low mileage and manual is not easy to come by on these. Always thought they were pretty cool in quirky kind of way.

^isnt this thing orphaned as all hell? i recall reading something about the hybrid drivetrain on these as completely proprietary and if anything goes wrong, youre sunk for thousands of dollars on it.

jcmaz 08-29-2022 10:33 AM

I had a CRZ manual for a couple years and sold it recently. Decently priced in today's market. These cars are super slow when the battery is depleted and tbh it's coming to the point which battery might need reconditioning, otherwise you're left with a giant paperweight.

You can still get hybrid components but they are super expensive from Honda. I believe the battery fan replacement was close to 1k? Imo might as well get a low ish RSX-S for the same amount of money.

If I were to do it all over again, I'd rather be in a Fit or RSX.

headhunt3r 08-29-2022 10:37 AM

What the hell is the rear seat area supposed to be? There's no seat belt so they're not seats, and given the coupe configuration, access to that area as storage would be a huge PITA. What a strange car.

jcmaz 08-29-2022 10:39 AM

You can still buy the battery from Honda for a couple grand? Electric motors don't go bad, it's the battery and all the surrounding peripherals that age and die.

That's why hydro dams don't change generators that often :)

I think it's a better car k swapped than the Fit since it already comes with 5x114.3 hubs and base model RSX brakes. It's weighs like 2800# with all the hybrid stuff.

It's a 2 seater. Asia and Europe models had rear seats. I just folded the seats down and had an extra large cargo area

bcrdukes 08-29-2022 10:54 AM

Wasn't there a Mugen version of this car and possibly supercharged? (I may be wrong.) I remember seeing one or two of these in Toronto but have never seen them ever again possibly due to the issues mentioned above.

jcmaz 08-29-2022 10:59 AM

Yeah Mugen and HFP ones were supercharged to a total of 197hp. The kit is around 6k usd (including ecu flash) but imo better off with a k swap instead.

JDMDreams 08-29-2022 03:31 PM

I thought about the crz, the designed has aged pretty well and it doesn't look as stupid when it first came out, with a kit and wheels it looks pretty good. But yea it's some orphan platform. It's not that good on gas either. Plus the missing two seats is a deal breaker, it's not really a hardcore two door. So for the price you pay plus mods wasn't really worth the hassle. Might as well get a Prius for similar price and mod that.:lawl:

68style 08-29-2022 03:36 PM

"Might as well get a Prius" seems like the most depressingly resigned thing an adult male ever has to say out loud
