But that's like 8k in wraps over 8 years...by that time you're throwing 4k into a car that's worth like 30.

of course it wont be as shinny and glossy as real paint, but its getting closer and closer. I would see it more as protection / color change / flexibility than just wasting 4k.
Its sort of like putting on a screen protector or a case for your phone.
They have something called colored PPF as well nowadays. Vancity Vinyl has it (no relation to these guys, i just got my brake calipers painted by them and they showed me this pretty neat material) https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaLounge...ored_ppf_wrap/ Quote:

Just as a reference, i got quoted by a local bodyshop for my Infrared Paint on the hood. They said they would also have to do the bumper and front fender, so the total cost of that job would have been north of 5k. Because its that candy red color with like 3-4 base layers and 1-2 clearcoat layers.

10k.
Cheapest SC430 ive seen in a while
Please read entire add.
I am forced to sell my baby. I have owned it since 2008. I have done all maintenance, and upkeep meticulously. The engine and transmission were sourced in 2018 with 100k. They now have approximately 130k. Car has 390k. Everything that needed to be replaced, has been replaced. I. E. All suspension Components, brakes etc.
Always OEM parts. 90% on tires.
Car is not perfect, but will never leave you stranded and will be an incredible experience to drive for many years to come. Again, I never saw myself selling my baby…
I am taking offers of all who come to see this vehicle only!!

Looks better as a well kept car with proper patina than fresh paint or a wrap in my opinion.

i dont know how that BMW doesnt have road rash. My in law's sc430 has a ton of road rash and they barely drive it. Only has 120,000km on it and its a 02. Not concourse car for sure, but from a few feet away, it looks okay. When you get up close to it, it looks like shit.
I depends on how anal you want to keep the car. After the honeymoon period dies out, it might not be worth the wrap $$$ anymore, but at least when its new and shinny, i dont think its too much cost to keep it that way.

It’s got some for sure, but you’ve got to be very close and it’s gotta be quite sunny. 205k on it too.

I like the idea of wrap and like Badhobz said, quality is getting better and better. Imagine what it will be like 4 yrs from now when you have to redo. I also like the idea of a refresh in different color, makes you fall in love with your car again.

I think both have their merits. I certainly would spend a premium to get the paint I wanted. That said I’d totally wrap the e30 if I have some money to burn in a couple years and the rest of the car is tip top.

I dont know if id spring 4k for a color unless its something really really special. Then id still want to spend another 4-5k to ppf that paint because i already spent 4k on getting it. now im almost 10k down in hole on a fucking golf r for just paint related crap.
on a 911 or higher sure, whats 10k on a 100k car. but 10k on a 40k car seems insane.

But it’s only an extra $50 a month on your 96 month financing if you’re doing it like most buyers.

Holy, speaking of E36, I got reacquainted with my old E36 M3 sedan in Victoria the other day. It's got all the same road rash on it (and then some) and the suspension I had on there is gone. It's got over 300K KM on it but still seems to run well when I met the current owner.

somebody plz go buy this!!!!
1973 Alfa Romeo Spider offered for sale.
A photo gallery is available at the following url: https://app.photobucket.com/u/Michae...9-797b797b351d
I am asking $23,000 (Canadian).
I have owned this car for 13 years and invested over $45,000 CAD in its maintenance and restoration
I purchased the vehicle from a car collector in San Diego and drove it to Vancouver where it has since remained, always garage kept.
The car has been refitted with Euro bumpers set close in to the body like the North American 1971 cars and as with the European models for most of the 1970s. The original bumpers were stainless and essentially the same but with rubber bumperettes and set out more from the body. The vehicle has aftermarket alloy wheels designed to the resemble the original steel wheels which are also included in the sale. The car has a replacement fabric roof in excellent condition.
This car has the original SPICA fuel injection that I believe the previous owner had rebuilt by Wes Ingram in Washington State. I fitted the car with a rebuilt thermostatic actuator last summer and the car runs extremely well and it's 2.0 litre engine provides ample power for a vintage car of it's era.
The car was maintained by and partially restored by Franco Marascio (sadly now retired) of FM Auto Repair in Burnaby, BC. Vancouver Alfa owners know Franco is a perfectionist and Alfa specialist and only carried out work to the highest possible standard.
Work included:
Total rebuild of engine (including brand new head) and transmission;
refurbished/rebuilt suspension;
Replacement of metal floors;
upgrade to electronic ignition;
New leather upholstery on seats and door panels;
Majority of rubber floor mats replaced with new;
Replacement brighter headlights;
New exhaust;
New fuel pump;
Replacement radiator;
New windshield;
Rebuild/replacement of many principal mechanical parts – even wheel hubs were overhauled.
Subsequent to Franco's retirement a few years ago I also had the clutch replaced and swapped the differential with a replacement unit.
The previous owner painted the car with a high end finish and the paint still looks good, but there are some little dents and scratches as well as obvious corrosion in bottoms of the fenders and in the rocker panels. At some point the car will need body work and a repaint but still looks great and can be enjoyed as is for some time. But mechanically, you would be hard pressed to find a better example.
Bear in mind that the wiring is largely original and 50 years old now. Some electrical functions don't work due to bad connections. These include the dashboard turn signal indicator, and second speeds for the heating fan and windshield wipers. Various interior warning lights don't work (and may not be wired) nor do the interior lights come on (I did have those working not long ago, so I believe this is simply due to poor connections). The turn signal wand was replaced but I believe not properly installed so that it won't automatically turn off when the steering wheel returns to centre. The signals do work; you just have to manually turn them off.
I have described the vehicle as best I can but I must emphasize, the car is sold as is with no warranties or formal representations of any kind.
The photos are mostly one year old. The interior and engine photos are from this summer.

The Alfa has gone through some serious updates/upgrades and I can vouch for Wes Ingram and Franco having worked on it.
Both are legends and perfectionists at their craft and the Alfa community. But at $23K, with all the "problems" this car comes with, is not worth it. The Series 2 Alfa Romeo Spiders with the SPICA fuel injection are the least popular, but on the other hand, the most beautiful with the European body conversion.
I won't lie - vintage Alfas are nothing but money pits, but I still love them.
