We all got champagne tastes yet always on a beer budget.

They are a couple, in case you didn't know.

Oh there was a mint 2006 one in calgary 1 owner with 43000km owned by a grandpa. Was asking $37k though.

I find for toys its better in alberta for a good deal as they buy more shit thanks to more discretionary income and low taxes lol

Badhobz 01-23-2023 11:15 PM

06+ sc430s are indeed a rare treat. They revised the lights and suspension in 06 so it doesn’t ride as rough as the 02s. I don’t think they changed much more in 09 vs 06.

I really really love these. I even wrote an article about it years ago.

========

Edit: found this one on autotrader too 06+ 19,800 bucks. Looks a lot cleaner inside but not sure why it has such hideous wheels. Nice color combination with the saddle interior and the blue exterior.

Don't see these very often. Under $20k for full EV Toyota SUV lol

Badhobz 01-24-2023 02:50 PM

Hey this thing was the EV that Toyota and Tesla partnered up to make. I’d be curious to see if it needs a new battery pack soon as this is pretty old tech compared to what they are doing nowadays.

jaaagman 01-24-2023 02:58 PM

Weren't these California only cars? I would hate to imagine what would happen when the batteries go bust.

1999 986 Boxster (non-S)
169k km
$13.9k
(Sold by Scan Auto -- yes, the Porsche specialty shop)

If it was being sold by a private owner, I'd probably say the $14k asking price is too high. But given how it is being sold and vouched for by Scan, I suppose this is as good as it gets for an older Porsche. And at the end of the day, $14k isn't that much money.

- yes, you'd still want to confirm that the IMS bearing has been replaced
- no, this gen doesn't suffer from the bore scoring issues that affect later Porsches
- vacuum lines are prone to cracking
- controls on radio get gummy and yucky

hardback seats and litronics do make it a very highly optioned non-S. would be a really fun summer car.

PCA member just picked up a somewhat tired S misadvertised as a base car for sub 10k. deals are out there if you're quick - and lucky

bcrdukes 01-25-2023 07:36 PM

That is a good buy assuming it has a good service history. Would be good to see if somebody here to pick it up.

For those of you don't know, Scan Auto is often referred to as Scam Auto. IFKYK.

trollface 01-25-2023 07:41 PM

So is this a aladeen buy or aladeen buy?

I feel its more of a liability than a mid engine porsche enjoyment piece.

bcrdukes 01-26-2023 03:29 PM

Oh shit, non-S. My bad.

Not a great buy. Slow but..how fast do you need to go in bumper to bumper traffic in Vancouver?

SkunkWorks 01-26-2023 03:30 PM

Lol scan auto. Lube is extra.

whitev70r 01-26-2023 08:49 PM

^ nice color, relatively low mileage, and AWD! Put a stage 1 in it and you're up to ~235 hp wagon ... decent power. Here's a pic to wet someone's appetite.
