Facts.

Fortunate to have Japanese and euro cars in the garage. Whenever it's time for a fun drive it's always the German cars that go out.

Don't buy a Subaru, just don't. I used to say don't buy anything turbo from Subaru cause the engines will have problems, and if it's paired with a CVT the whole drivetrain will blow up.

Then a friend bought a non turbo CVT and he still had CVT problems. It's good when it works, but it'll always eventually break. Subaru build quality is also terrible.

Here's the Corolla that's down my block, it's been like this for a month now. I believe it's daily driven. They recently added a tie down to the trunk so it doesn't flop around.

EDIT: responding to a post a couple of pages back. They probably don't want to give up the car to ICBC due to the fact that the used car market for anything in the 2000s model year is expensive

SSM_DC5 02-18-2023 09:01 AM

VPD traffic department doesn't see a problem with that.

Badhobz 02-18-2023 09:03 AM

Pretty sure that’s stock from factory.

Maybe long wait time for body shop to do damage assessment?

He probably doesn't want it written off.

There was a couple in my old condo who drove their Civic around like this - bumper and trunk smashed up and secured via bungee cords.

They didn't want their car written off by insurance because they were on the verge of being dropped by their insurance company and the payout would lead them into a position where they could not buy a car during the peak of the pandemic.

Saw a Civic coupe on Marine Drive in a similar state but was hit on passenger side. The rear fender was messed up and the passenger door was held on by a strap. VPD thinks it's totally fine to drive like that too.

JDMDreams 02-18-2023 01:17 PM

Yup when my car got hit, ICBC said it totally fine to drive with only one head light. If the cops pull you over just say you have a claim.:ahwow:

tegra7 02-18-2023 02:34 PM

^God forbid a lowered civic with hid's and a fart can were to be on the road.

That's a rustyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy bitch. Look at that C pillar, take any surface rust you see an multipy it by 5, that's how much that car is hiding.

tegra7 02-18-2023 07:27 PM

But it's in your budget

trollface 02-18-2023 07:48 PM

I'd pay $500 for it.

That just means no one wants a bagged mini van (Shocker). FB removes your ad after like 2 weeks.

Not just for snow, 4motion will come in handy for the wet lowermainland roads.

Far too often I see fwd'ers spinning their tires at a hilly intersection once the light hits green. Some of it attributed to crappy/bald tires.

tofu1413 02-19-2023 11:29 AM

Found the 4 motion quite useful in deep snow last year in the Golf R.

thing was a tank on both DWS06 and some Yoko ice guards.

Great for drifting too if full stability off :lawl:
