the whole "weight saving" "rigidity" is a bs argument. you still run around with the full interior? spare wheel? i'm sure all the options and comforts.

Unless you're riding around stripped out like a race car with every strut and stiffening bar possible, you're not noticing any difference with the sun roof. but to each their own

whitev70r 03-14-2023 06:23 AM

The reason I prefer no sunroof is that 99.9% of the time, I don't use it. More things to go wrong, mechanism, leak, etc. I like a glass panel roof with a sunscreen that I can pull to offer shade or open up for some sunshine ... that's enough, suits me just fine.

twitchyzero 03-14-2023 06:25 AM

+1 I can only put up with the feeling of driving in a box if it’s for track

prefer air/skylight, never had leaks

trollface 03-14-2023 07:00 AM

I love sunroofs and convertibles.

The Z4 is amazing cuz I still have a full head of hair.

I'm 6' tall and had 2 7th gen Celica's up until recently... 1 with sunroof and the other without.

I love sunroofs for the light that comes in, but I will admit if I style my hair a certain way (my hair is NEVER long, military style) and get in the sunroof Celica, my hair was hitting the ceiling all the time and it's a bit annoying when driving... so anyone taller would definitely have issues (at least in that car).

Badhobz 03-14-2023 07:53 AM

i was able to contort my fat lanky ass into a ND-2 Miata. Im really really surprised i was able to fit

6’0 with fucked up proportions (long torso). I don’t sit right in most cars and I’m not ready to commit to a large crossover. Had problems with the newer Rav4 of all things, but the GTI is relatively fine.

This used to be mine before the pandemic, low mileage, good body, one side was repainted as part of that whole thing when the dude in Coquitlam went through and keyed hundreds of cars (that almost wrote it off actually)... went through fuel pumps like candy and had some electrical issues. Trunk leaked like a sieve.

Price is somewhat fair though... clutch job on this car is like a $2,000 job though. It's a serious undertaking.

Dang didn't know those SVT's were that bad.

I was contemplating to pick one up as a first car wayyy back when. they were 3k.

@tofu stop posting all these fords! My driveway is only so big.

That being said if you ever see those turquoise festiva’s let me know ASAP. I’ve always wanted one to do a bp swap into. But I want the most retro one possible

They're brilliant cars to drive, I have such fond memories... that's why I've ended up with 3 of them but had to sell them all before they became even bigger headaches than they already are.

Early manual E46 - clunking could be subframe damage; if fixed, could make a good drift project:

Helmet room, I'm like 5' 8" but all torso (30 inseam lol) and my head with a helmet on for auto-x or track almost bumps the roof of the MK6 GTI - with the seat fully down.
