ive never driven an FK8 till today. WHERE THE FCK have you been all my life?

words cannot explain just how fucking good this car is. holy god damn batman. the shifter is like youre operating gods legs and arms. the clutch is effortless, yet communicative. The steering turn in is like instant, the ride is confident yet able to deal with imperfections. WHAT THE HELL. its magic.

i need a shower.

GO see Jacky and buy this from him.. ARRGH THAT TINY EVIL BALLON WIFE IS GONNA KILL MEEEEE

Consider trading in your Lexus? Lol

Badhobz 03-17-2023 08:53 AM

nope, but i might trade in the ES for this or the FL5 as a fun daily.

I'm trying to understand how our experiences differed so much. I understand that the car really comes together on the track.

Context:
I drove BIC_BAWS FK8 on the street.

Holy batman the seats are good.
Engine seemed powerful stronger than most similar turbo 4's.

Dislikes/Opportunities
The shifter and clutch felt pretty meh to me (felt like there was a lot of side to side play / not very solid assembly) compared to s2k.
The steering I can't comment on too much but holy wheel hop/wheelspin if it's moist outside.
Ride is ok, it didn't strike me as perfectly dialed in as something like the Giulia/CT5/Challenger nor do the dampers have the range of GM MRC.

As a street car, it didn't feel like I could drive it as hard as I wanted nor get the enjoyment out of it.

As a track tool, I'm sure it's far better than the street experience since I notice I don't think about exhaust note, shifter feel, etc on the track. I just expect it to do what I want it to do and focus more on the driving.
I don't think the Giulia/CT5/Challenger Scat Pack would be nearly as good track cars.

That’s the problem. I’ve never driven an s2k so I don’t know. The closest I would say I’ve driven in terms of shifter feel is an NC miata.

Badhobz 03-17-2023 04:59 PM

Is the regular civic Si like 90% of this type R experience or is it quite neutered vs the type R? 200hp seems to be pretty dang decent, i dont think i need the extra 100hp for a daily.

The NC shifter isn't that great.....

The regular civic is always plentiful but it's never "fast/too much".

CTR's at the "almost fast enough to not think twice about passing on a 2 lane highway" level.

It takes 4-500 (and if auto, a ZF8) for me to not think at all and just go for it.

Will bring the s2k for the yacht rolla :ilied:

Badhobz 03-20-2023 06:03 PM

I dont know if I fit that s2k. Lousy 6’2 fat ass frame.

Gerbs 03-20-2023 08:47 PM

Depends how heavy you are lol, I'm trying to cut down to 190ishlbs atm so I can drive it again at 6'3. To be honest, I may be at the point where I need to consider selling it since I can't clear the steering wheel and reach the clutch.

dark0821 03-20-2023 10:21 PM

^ oh shit.... dibs on the 05 S2k!

serious.... lololol

I recall back in 2000’s i tried it and I couldn’t fit my legs properly into the car. I had no way to operate the shifter as the knees kept hitting the dashboard.

How were you able to drive this at 6’3 Gerbs!? Don’t you have the same problems as me?

I recall with the top up, my head doesnt even fit.

Yet strangely i was able to fold myself into the ND Miata. Not sure what voodoo magic is involved in the ND Miata as i seriously didn’t think id fit that either.

My leg is bent and I'm pushing down on the clutch like a gas pedal. Not fun anymore, didn't think this day would come. I had recaros on there and it makes the driving position really good on your legs but my back couldn't really fit into the bucket so I'm always slouched forward.

I may try the BYS rails but it's $600 to lower 20mm.

ND miata I don't fit with the roof up, I wonder if it's cause of legs / torso lengths.

Badhobz 03-21-2023 08:25 AM

I guess you gotta grab a 911 then gerbs. That’s the only tall people friendly sports car.

Even a 458 the foot well area is tight. My size 13 feet doesn’t fit and you can mash gas and brake together easily.

hud 91gt 03-21-2023 07:00 PM

240z is very tall friendly, just gotta forget about any creature comforts and performance. Lol

Gotta trade in both cars one day for the 911, just baffled at how 992 911's are $175 - 200K after taxes. Seems like a 2016 - 2018 GT4 is more value.

donk. 03-21-2023 09:31 PM
