I am amazed that he hasn't bothered to invest in a full lift, or at least a QuickJack. I have respect for a guy that pulls transmissions from the car while it's only on jack stands.
He's focusing on E90 videos now, which is the next platform for the Gen Z crowd, but he'll be making money from his E46 videos for quite a few years yet.

Yea at what mileage is a car a bad buy? Over 250k? But then it is a Toyota, older cars will only go up in mileage, if too low km you're looking at garage Queens and be afraid to drive |

Different for every car. A 250k e28 m5? Do it. A 250k 4 runner? Do it. A 250k miata? Don't do it.

Based on discussions of a 4 seater convertible I looked around for a manual clean title E46 cabriolet and there's literally nothing out there.
How good or bad is the e90 cab as a diy owner?

How good or bad is the e90 cab as a diy owner? | Don't know diddly about BMW's but will this do? 2003 E46 conv, manual ... bonus, 197K kms, $8K. Pretty cheap for a daily if maintenance isn't too crazy. Out in Nanaimo so a nice day trip to bring her back. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...c-da7d7444d107
Or this here in YVR, 2004, auto though, 208K kms, relatively new top (5 yrs old), well maintained, $11K https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...c-da7d7444d107

How good or bad is the e90 cab as a diy owner? | I only know with the folding hard-top on the e90 if you even look at it the wrong way, the seals need to be replaced and once you touch one you gotta touch them all... super expensive for the top and a lot of problems with its operation. Very few people know how to put it together properly.
That's from 3 diff people I know who have owned one. It was the cherry on top of all the turblow and other earlier 3.5 engine issues.

Wow those 2 ZHP's are so close. If only I they could pull off a Dragonball style fusion to create a ZHP manual cabriolet with a fair ask, I'd be messaging them right away.
The only reason I got away buying a fun car in the first place was that the open top NA I picked up sparked so much joy for her (and me) cruising the S2S. Fixed roof coupe is unfortunately a no go, but that's a great looking listing for this thread overall.

I don't understand the high milage = OK just because it's a "YXZ/Toyota".
Sure, a V8 Toyota will run for 300,000 cuz it's built like a brick shit house, but the rest of the car has 300,000 KM on it. Their bushings, rubbers, control arms, plastics, bearings, brakes, nuts and bolts etc have 300,000KM on it, too.
You don't sit on top of the V8 and drive it with your mind.

Had one briefly a few summers back to share with my parents for the season. It was a fantastic little car.
Only caveat was the VC gasket leaking and the oil filter housing. got both addressed for $1000 or so.
Put on some later E90 sport package wheels too. Was one nice summer drop top cruiser. Made the right noise and was quite relaxing to drive (it was the Auto)
With some elbow grease here and there, I feel the E30 and E46's are very fail proof BMW ownerships.

You don't sit on top of the V8 and drive it with your mind. | Yeah but those are relatively cheap. Compared to major engine rebuilds anyways.
Only thing that is hard to restore would be the structural rigidity of a 20+ year old car that wasn’t that stiff even from the factory. I guess that’s where you start wielding in cages and bracing underneath, etc.

I didn't know the E46's were reliable to operate. I was expecting to spend minimum $10K over a 5 year ownership lol.
Which didn't make sense on a $10k car.
