Do the E82 convertibles suffer from the same hydraulic line failure the E93 tops do?

What's the deal with BMW's and rod bearings? You'd think that they would have solved it a decade or two after the S54...

Your engine is a wear and tear item :troll: along with the sealed for life transmission :troll::troll::troll: basically the whole car needs replacement at timing belt intervals

Badhobz 04-26-2023 05:25 PM

I honestly don’t think bmw ownership is that bad. Our 128i has been pretty good. Just small things. But the n55 is a different beast I guess.

sonick 04-26-2023 09:44 PM

N54/n55 first ever production twin turbo from BMW in the 135i, vs a classic i6 that BMW was known for decades in the 128i

Big difference in terms of reliability.

XLR's look so douchey, I love them.:awwyeah:

I had a coworker that had one of these Pathfinders decimating her savings, got her out of it and hooked her up with a 97 4-Runner instead which only had oil changes and a dead battery in 10+ years.

Money pits.

I remember seeing this car in this thread some time ago

I am currently driving a LS430, been wanting to get a SC430

JDMDreams 05-01-2023 10:34 PM

That one has been selling for at least a year, must be something up with it or it would have sold. I'm assuming very high mileage. Interior colour is nice but beat and it doesn't match the exterior colour.

One of the few below $30K that I've seen ...

2016 Golf R, 95K kms (not bad), blue, APR Stage2, $29.9K in Victoria.

https://victoria.craigslist.org/cto/...608518031.html

This 2016 Golf R in excellent condition has many upgrades. Upgrades include APR Stage 2 high torque ECU and TCU tuned carbon intake, turbo muffler delete, turbo back exhaust and de-catted. Fully optioned from factory with radar cruise control and lane keep assist. Brand new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 all season tires. Blue exterior, black interior. Second mature owner and used daily so mileage may vary.

I like a seller that buys michys. The Pretoria's give it a 7.5 vibe. Mods sound OK

:troll: wants a 7.5 but 25% premium for LCD guages and bigger center screen is a lot. He likes Lapiz blue too I think. :considered:

I don't buy modded cars. Seen way too much wack home jobs at car shows.

Badhobz 05-03-2023 12:36 AM

At this rate trolly, you should just wait for a golf R to come around and buy you instead. Probably faster that way.

bcuzracecarz 05-03-2023 06:14 AM

Why don’t people take the time to remove N stickers or take proper pictures, it always has baffled me.

Naw, prices have been steadily falling, and it's not a rare car.

There is no reason to jump into anything that's not pretty close to being perfect. I was looking last sept and cars with 60,000 were selling for 45k.

We're down to 42-43 with very low milage samples now. Those folks just 6 months ago overpaid by a solid 9k at this point.

We're getting closer.

In the middle of Covid low mileage cars were 38,XXX.

The Producer 05-03-2023 07:53 AM

7.5's R's are not 9 grand cheaper than they were 6 months ago. They're literally the same price. You know this - you went to the same dealer last week and got handed the exact same numbers as I did in october - to the dollar.

Keep telling yourself what you want to hear I guess. <3 Don't listen to a sucker that flushed 10k down the toilet.

Eventually they will be cheaper as more Mk8's filter into the market. We're not even that far from 8.5's

Nvm, not going muddy this thread.

I'd buy the one you got all day for what you paid.

I think we're ways away from middle covid pricing, and honestly I don't know if enthusiast cars will reach those prices again in the same condition. These Golfs aren't getting younger, and the longer you wait the harder it is for you to find a clean sample.

Some Mid-Covid Prices I recall seeing:
- 2019 BMW M2 Comp Manual 18,000km for $62k
- 2017 Subaru Outback Manual 24,000km for $22k
- 2018 Golf R Spektrum Manual 30,000km for $38k

^all clean titles, 1-owner, and no accidents.
