JDM Integra Type R 36k

is this a good buy? i dont even know

No, this was listed forever at like 17,999 and dropped to 14,999 last year before this dealer picked it up and converted emblems back to JDM + switched the wheels and headlights.

My mk7.5 R is a 7 speed DSG. a little better fuel economy on the highway with the extra gear. Yes, sometimes its a little jerky on 1st gear but you get used to it and learn how to control the throttle to decrease the jerkyness.

I got the DSG on my sportwagen before only because the wife might accidently need to drive it. I regret it everyday. That and they didnt make the sportwagen in highline trim with the 6 speed + 4motion in 2017.

Manual clutch will slip if you decide to tune your car. Even a simple stage 1 tune, the clutch will start to slip. DSG can hold a lot more power.

trollface 05-04-2023 12:09 PM

Is yours tuned? If so, which software and how has reliability been for you?

Can we make a petition to ban golf r chat in this thread, whole year later we’re still helping this guy look for a car he probably wont buy till the mk10 is out, its getting very repetitive and annoying.

whitev70r 05-04-2023 10:33 PM

^ there may be others who are interested in a Golf R ...just saying.

No, lurker.

trollface 05-05-2023 04:42 AM

I will return when I find one. See you fellas in an indeterminate amount of time

Dbone 05-05-2023 05:51 AM

Just remember, there will be no next gen Golf... so you only have 8ish years to find a good secondhand one.

Honestly, what is wrong with this last one, 2019, reasonable mileage, prob lowest priced mk7.5 I've come across, under your $40K budget. At a dealer too so they'll look it over, you get peace of mind. If this one doesn't fit your bill, or if you don't actually go and give this one a try, you really are a picky SOB and have an obsessive compulsive disorder.

I also want to hold the title of finding the most choosy SOB the right used car.

trollface 05-05-2023 06:49 AM

I was literally the first person there to see that car the moment the dealer opened.

They told me it wasn't for sale yet, asked them can I at least see the Carfax, didn't have it.

I told the salesperson to call me. Car's gone.

Anyways...I'll find something.

Badhobz 05-05-2023 07:10 AM

i dont think you'll enjoy it as much as you think you will trolly. Its quite PLUSH and luxurious for a hothatch. Its basically an Audi. Maybe youre ready for that sort of luxuriousness-ness-ness or maybe you'll find it boring like most modern day cars.

Compared to your spartan datsun, its gonna be a WHOLE NEW WORLD!!!

carfax posted on autotrader....

trollface 05-05-2023 08:32 AM

I found it on FB, there were no details at the time.

I was literally there the sec the dealership opened.

Badhobz 05-05-2023 08:39 AM

OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOOOO TROLLY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

radeonboy 05-05-2023 08:48 AM

Double check AutoTrader or dealer website next time, either/both places may have its CarFax posted. If not, then get the VIN from the dealer site so you can run the CarFax yourself or through someone you know in the industry.

whitev70r 05-05-2023 08:56 AM

But it sounds like this one was sold really quickly (understandably) ... maybe salesperson had a short list of people who was interested in a mk7.5 Golf R trade in, low mileage, good shape. So someone else suggested that you leave your name with a sales dept as some leases are coming in and slipping the sales manager a $20 SB gift card probably wouldn't hurt to get your name moved closer to the front of the list.

trollface 05-05-2023 09:05 AM

That's precisely what happened. There was no info posted, so I just showed up, and they had no info on it. Then it was gone.

Anyways, I've been chatting with a few sales guys at the dealers around town. They claim they will ring me if something comes across their desk.

donk. 05-05-2023 09:05 AM

Trollface have you thought about buying out of province?

When it comes to rare cars, and they "ain't available" locally, might be the way to go. Seems to be 70 manual R's for sale on autotrader

Pay a third party shop to inspect it, or get a mechanic to do a site inspection and drive, drop in the bucket when your blowing 30-50k

Or yolo like me and just roll the dice sight unseen.... (Do not suggest honestly, unless it's at a reputable dealership and low kms)

Naw, that's a lot of what ifs and money on my end to rely on a bunch of people to make the call on 35k for me. I'm not saving much doing that.

I may as well buy locally and see the thing myself. These cars are pretty common.

400k kms easily.

they last forever.

as for the Golf R, might as well just seek for a lower mainland, local car. the under carriages here for GVRD cars are the cleanest in the whole country and a typical Golf R user will drive them year round including in deep snow anyways.
