^I'd say not a bad deal considering the condition and low kms. A "shitty" ITR with higher kms, rough paint/interior, excessive oil consumption would cost 25k+ cad like the PY that was on BAT a couple weeks back. |

I thought that gen tended to flip over? I think the one after had oil consumption issues? |

so ive been looking around for a fun piece of shit to take down to California next month. I was gonna take the ratrolla but decided against it due to how much crime there is in Portland and other areas that we would likely stop in (bay area, etc). that wrap job is a bit too flashy and will likely attract trouble. Narrowed it down to 1) rent a fun piece of junk like a mustang convertible from YVR and drive it down 2) use that porsche drive service and rent a 718 (only problem is its limited to 2500kms) 3) drive my camry / her RX down / steal her dads sc430 4) buy something fun like that z3 so far no3 is winning. last time we did that, we drove the RX. Its boring, but its comfortable and maybe thats more important in the long run. I might try and steal that sc430 and take it down. |

I'd do number 2, but it'll probably be super uncomfortable |

If i buy a piece of junk, i can likely sell said piece of junk for the same as what i paid for it after the trip is over. |
If you aren’t getting a Corolla, you are dead to me. |
#1 for sure. anything happens, especially in another country - just tell them to bring you another car. get mental on the rental. |

Places to be careful of: Portland and Seattle are fine (lived in both). It's the Bay Area (Peninsula/East Bay) where stuff will get stolen from your car, and South/East LA where your car might become a parts car. Rental benefits: Depending on your credit card entitlements, you might get National Executive Aisle (just by being an AMEX member) which sometimes gets you a Mustang 5.0 from National if they're parked on the "pick any car from this aisle" type thing. Rental insurance: Most credit cards won't cover more than 28/31 days of consecutive rental. Rental fleets: Hertz Presidents Circle is harder to get, but their fleet is sometimes nicer depending on airport. Check your rate to make sure unlimited mileage applies out of province/country. Check FlyerTalk threads to get the latest on fleet selection at various airports - SFO always runs out of convertibles, LAX generally has the best fleet, YVR tends to have stuff like 300S, CT4, Q50, Maxima, GLC, A220, Occasional 3 series/Mustang Ecoboost convertible in National Emerald Exec. American cars: The Ecoboost is a terrible motor (1MPG better than the 5.0) and the 10AT tune is far worse. If your luggage fits, the Camaro is a FAR better drive (E39/46 feeling, a lot of that engineering team went to GM Aus) and the Challenger + V8 is a great combo. Trip routing: IMHO the drive doesn't get nice until you get to NorCal or central Oregon. Consider doing Anacortes > Mulkilteo, then follow I-5 until Portland. Take 26 out to Cannon Beach and stay a night there before making your way south to the Devil's Punchbowl. Driving highlights: The Redwoods and Big Sur are honest to god some of the best driving I've done on the west coast. PCH proper gets pretty packed during the day, but you're going during a good time to still drive a convertible (gets too hot in LA summer to drop the top) Feel free to DM if you wanna chat trip planning some more |
Doesn't rental try to ding you for damages, or turo? I hear of horror stories of car rental company's, ppl try to claim damages against you afterwards. I'm scared to rent cars cuz of this. Or buy dodge charger, g37, go join some slideshows, post videos on here??? Profit :accepted: |
Thanks for the rental advice. I’ll see if Avis has anything as I got the presidents club with them. I rented a mustang eco boost convertible last time in Hawaii. It was adequate for our needs. If it all fails, I’ll just do the trip in her RX or my Camry. Boring, safe and reliable. She’ll do a lot of shopping along the way so I don’t know if a smaller car can manage all the trash we gonna buy. |

Turo is particularly bad with rental damages, and rental companies in Europe especially will ding you for every litle thing. |

How about a Golf R |
Just buy a golf R, drive it for 5k then mark it up to sell to trollface |
droptop tourer that's new, reliable, comfortable, sounds good, yeah BRING THAT cliche but true: memories aint the same in a rental overnighting in-town Portland or SF just stay at a place with secure parking on the slim chance anything happens, your windshield, wrap etc is covered by icbc are you saying RX or Camry is more comfortable than LC? Cannon Beach all the way to Big Sur then the Topanga and San Gabriel mtns if you're like me will be instant regret once you get to the fun bits without the right vehicle FeelsBadMan |
https://vancouver.craigslist.org/nvn...624618441.html havent seen a relatively stock 16V GTX in this nice shape in a long time.... looks pretty. |
