So a buddy of mine who refunded his deposit for a GR Corolla got called by the sales person asking if he still wanted one and if he had his trade in… at msrp plus $299 for protective film…. I reiterate he refunded his deposit like 9 months ago… things are starting to swing the other way

trollface 08-26-2023 10:09 AM

I wonder if it has anything to do with the 8% interest rates and everyone's mortgages coming up for renewal at 5.5-6%.

Seen a few new Golf R's got for Msrp.

The Supras were already at 6.5-7% for lease / finance so I don't think it's the higher interest rates that are affecting decisions, so I think it is more mortgages / cost of living factors you mentioned that are changing people's decision. The Supra's also been out for a few years now too so I'm guessing those that want one already have / had one.

I noticed the ND2 Miatas cooling in value lately, so maybe those 7.5 Golf Rs will cool off pretty soon as well.

cost of living is definitely creeping up.

got some speculators that calling us to see if we wanted their "brand new allocations" that are "arriving soon"

guy wants to make middle man money of $10k plus and we're like nah. that ship has already set sailed already. goodluck on your FL5/ GR Corolla allocation son. Shouldn't have swung it if you don't have the means to pay for it. :fuckthatshit:

trollface 08-26-2023 02:38 PM

That's the problem though isn't it? They have nothing to lose, they tie up 500-1000 to get on a list and they get it all back if they can't middle man it.

Might have to delay this whole car thing a little, the FHSA accounts that came up need funding. =/

JDMDreams 08-26-2023 04:40 PM

Lol dat $40g fhsa isn't gonna help you shit in 5 years. You probably can't even get a base golf at $40k in 5 years :troll::troll: Yolo

If you had FULL $40g TODAY x 5% a year is only $51,051.26 in 5 years. :joy:

trollface 08-26-2023 04:43 PM

It's pretty litt if you read the details.

8k is tax deductible like a RSP, if you don't draw from it it automatically becomes extra RSP. It's a free $40k taxable income reduction.

I'm amazed trollface was summoned 3 minutes after the word golf was mentioned

Actual good buy on a Boxster GTS - brand new but listed for less than MSRP. Spec'd very close to how I'd spec it (I'd get the blue interior), too bad I don't have money lying around for it yet.

That boxster is a "little" more reasonably priced, vs that blue boxster you posted earlier pushing 200k tax in

Still gonna be a no dawg, let's see some 3k 92 civics and 8k Z4s

trollface 08-28-2023 07:24 AM

The world is healing.

fantastic piece of machinery for the money - only thing that annoyed me was the tach redline was not correct. Fuel cut comes 2-300rpm earlier than what the tach indicates.

the 4L with the drop top is a very nice drive and you can hear all the great induction noises.

JDMDreams 08-28-2023 02:45 PM

Not a good buy but bad hobz kinda buy, you need a real Corolla

What a stupid price for a 430, they are not a collectible, makes no sense.

Badhobz 08-28-2023 03:48 PM

Yeah that’s insane even for me. I’d take a minty 1991 one though.

Or a V8 RX8! All the cool thing are showing their face. I think Fliptuner needs both to complete the collection.

These days, most new cars come with a strictly limited set of colors from the factory. Usually, you get a small selection of blacks, whites, and greys, with red or blue sometimes joining the party. Every now and then, though, a car slips through the cracks and scores a color that was definitely not in the brochure. That's exactly what happened at Volkswagen in 2016, with a special kind of grey.

As seen on Bring a Trailer, the car in question is a 2017 Volkswagen Golf R. It's become a bit of a legend since it first hit the dealership lot in November 2016. That's because this Golf R was painted in Carbon Steel Grey Metallic, a color that was never officially available on the model from the factory. When the car was first listed for sale by Lindsey Volkswagen in Dulles, Virginia, the car caused a major stir...

trollface 08-29-2023 06:42 AM

1 of 1 dark grey. lol

There are literally 40 colours better than that one.

68style 08-29-2023 07:16 AM

Yah why couldn't they fuck up in a weird pink or orange
