Thoughts on that cheap one? I have been looking for a AWD winter car, but I have to sell something to get it

A good friend had a del Sol VTEC that looked basically identical to this -- red, wings, wheels, and all, and we were both young and stupid enough to have him teach me driving stick in this -- the clutch's bite point was totally not newbie friendly, but we did a LOT of shenanigans in it together.

I need an extra garage spot to park the car, and I have no aptitude in fixing cars. So I don't see how this can happen. But I basically feel like I am kissing my 18 yrs old memories goodbye to just watch this one go away... :tears:

The delsol actually came with the highest horsepower b16 (170hp) that North America got.

I had a chance to take my friend's delsol around Vimc and it was awesome cause of the shorter wheelbase.

For a DD or a track car ... there's value there, I think.

radeonboy 08-30-2023 03:03 PM

The final-year 6MT Golf Rs could be something that holds value, if one can be purchased without strings attached.

If golf r dude has all the receipts from the engine replacement and was done properly then I’d say it’s right in the realm of a great buy.

This is a solid deal for this Del Sol.
I've owned every trim level of this chassis including the SiR transtop.
People have been asking $10k+ for B16 VTEC variants for quite some time now.
It's a very sleeper chassis, not necessarily fast and the roof seals should already be addressed for this late model year. Definitely collectible. Clean it up and throw some collectors plates on it during spring/summer and you have yourself a very fuel efficient top down convertible. Bonus points if the seats have no tears, and no wrinkles on the door panels.

Absolutely that R is a car to drive the fuck out of and enjoy. I wish we didn't need the extra space of the wagon. Damn dog needs to start paying her way.

VTEC del sol are super rare. Nothing can beat the VTEC crossover of a B16. Music and joy to my ears.

i think you've been waiting all year to dunk on somebody - but actually you missed easy layups this whole time. you could have driven a Mk7.5 R for free for the past 2 years if you weren't hung up on what you think the market should be doing.

You know what, forget it.

whitev70r 08-31-2023 06:57 AM

Prob one of the better value listings out there for a Golf R MK7.5 - 2018, 1 owner, $37.8K, 40K kms, DSG ... if there is no hidden story. Dealer inspected, looks like it's at Open Road Audi in Burnaby.

The milage is wrong on the listing.

66,592km isn't bad at all, <15k a year

bcuzracecarz 08-31-2023 07:30 AM

They wrote the price in kms spot and clearly aren’t trying to hide anything in the pictures.

trollface 08-31-2023 07:32 AM

This is the correct listing:

all the more reason to negotiate and to knock off another $1500. Even at 66K kms, that's avg. Carfax reads clean, one minor accident < $1K. With OpenAudi dealer peace of mind.

68style 08-31-2023 09:05 AM

I'm actually surprised OpenRoad Audi's doc fee is $395... I thought it would be in the $700 range

Badhobz 08-31-2023 09:10 AM

they'll get their blood money through the service department. TROLOLOLOLO

1.5k for DSG service!? sign me up!

trollface 08-31-2023 09:28 AM

That's not that bad tbh, you service that thing like 2 times in the car's life.

Have you priced a set of tires for your LC lately? $700 a pop?

68style 08-31-2023 09:29 AM

You service it a couple times... it seamlessly shifts for you hundreds of thousands of times

That's a way better deal than spending hundreds of thousands to get serviced a couple times :ifyouknow:

roastpuff 08-31-2023 09:34 AM

If you go to an independent mechanic, DSG service is like 450-600, max. It's not that difficult to do for a shop that specializes in VWs/Audis

You don't have to go to dealer for the $1500 DSG service, lots of reliable indie VW mechs that can do it for a lot less.
