Not a major expert on these but looks like it could be a solid buy for a fun car. Tempting

2006 Porsche Boxster S - $27999

https://vancouver.craigslist.org/rds...679968319.html Amusing (or a red flag) that he dropped his price over 10k from initial asking. Got some problems but at least its similar to pre covid pricing

bcuzracecarz 11-15-2023 05:42 AM

It’s a RHD s2k with electrical problems and rust. He just brought the price down to something at least a blind person might consider

twitchyzero 11-15-2023 08:19 AM

likely just surface rust, common spot for water to collect

at least seller seems transparent

WTF is this world coming to???

I think it's hard, when it comes to humans and our emotions.

When I did some volunteering at the food bank, I remember seeing a lot of looks of shame in ppl's faces. As if they had failed in some basic way as human beings. I saw a mother clutching their toddler's hand looking straight ahead to avoid eye contact, some people had tears in their eyes, some seniors looking around in confusion, anxious about over-asking. And some people were our age, looked just like us: maybe they didn't think they'd ever wind up in a line for food.

I can only imagine that some folks could have a kind of defense mechanism in their brain kick in, to help shield them from the desperate humiliation that comes from taking a handout. Putting up an air of entitlement in an anonymous online review, as a kind of subconscious scrabbling for dignity.

And to be honest, I think we can do more to train folks to be as respectful as possible with how food is offered. Kind of a "hey thanks for coming in, what can we get you?! :D" to help portray a sense of respect, vs triggering their sensitivity to "you're lucky to get what you get."

Not saying this necessarily applies to what you posted Traum (thanks for posting!), just thinking out loud.

My brother picked this up today. Engine seems to be running healthy. Just minor cosmetic problems and small issues. Can't complain for a 15k S2k.

It had bald tires so he slapped on his S2K spec Regamasters.

^ it's nice but the price .. ??!! And it's RHD. There is an 06 S4 wagon on FB for like $11K, would that be a better buy for ~ $40K difference?

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...5308280803221/

Or here is another white RS4 Avant, import, RHD, white, $50K https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...1698938148334/

roastpuff 11-18-2023 08:54 PM

The RS4 is far more special than the S4 (and doesn't have the V8 timing chain blow up issue), but I don't know if it's 40K better.

westopher 11-18-2023 09:13 PM

Maybe 40k better if you could see when you are turning. Importing a RHD car that is available in LHD is the most Facebook car group like chasing thing anyone can do.

RS4 was never available in wagon form in North America. The sedan was the only way to get RS4, and even then the sedan is rare. To import from Europe, the shipping cost is steep, I hear somewhere in the 5-7k range.

Importing a RHD Porsche is the stupid thing I've seen pop up recently.

Qmx323 11-19-2023 02:52 PM

Here's a pair of LHD RS4 Estates, one's from Japan of all places, other one no idea.

Pricey as FUCK, but those seats though :ahwow:

Black - 71KM - Japan Import LHD - $75K

White - 126KM - $64K

You want LHD you're paying for it lolol

I'm aware that it was never offered here, but the main countries it was offered in, like Germany, are LHD. Someone paid money to import it, and imported the wrong one.

Gotta be something seriously wrong with this car, or it's a deal.

Always wanted one pre-covid but they were 20k to start.

If this car has no issues you could even flip it for 5k

whitev70r 11-19-2023 04:38 PM

@donk, since you've been eyeing something like this, what is the trunk space like on the Panamera vs. the Turismo? Panamera sedan is one of the first 'sportback' type of sedan. Now there is the Audi A/S/RS5 or the A/RS7.

Beyond me honestly, most of the cars I buy are after-hours toys / convertibles. I've never looked at a turismo trim, I would guess it's pricier, and that's out of my "winter beater" budget

I just wanted a Panamera for no good reason. Preferably the 4wd version. The link I posted seems to have a Panamera 4 in the pictures, so add a couple grand of value.

whitev70r 11-19-2023 05:14 PM

^ ah, I was thinking practical ... you are looking at it as a winter beater toy :lol

RS4 are cool cars, but in Europe you will get pulled over 24/7 by the cops and a pain in the ass when you cross border, since they are used for drug trafficking between Spain to Germany / Holland.

Always check the car history since it is a tradition in Germany/Europe to modify the odometer. The interior is poorly made, the glove box, cup holder, sunroof were broken after 4 years.

Pretty disappointed by the chassis that love to go straight (understeer) in the corners, that was problematic when i used to live in the alps. My cheap Subaru B4 RSK is more fun and less a headache, but the RS4 6 MT was really good.

Otherwise pretty good car for the highway, tons of common parts available in Canada and it is a fast wagon with a manual transmition!

2003 Peugeot 206 wrc rally wide no idea what the value of something like this is ... $17.8K

The 206 S16 is a cool car with an amazing chassis as usual since it is a Peugeot but it is pretty slow (130hp), the 206 RC is faster (180hp). The wide body is pretty cheap ($1500-2000) but $17000 for 2 is really good. It depends of their conditions, otherwise they are pretty reliable, drove one with 300.000 km on it and love how the rear slide. Way better than the VW Polo and Golf i had in Europe. But the 206 interior is not that great and the electronic can do some funny stuff. The body kit is too much imo but if you want a real 206 WRC it is $500.000

Peugeot is unknown in North America but i highly recommend to try a 205 GTI, 106 S16, 206 RC, 308 GTI and RCZ, especially on a circuit or mountain.
