I've heard the argument of US Spec E36 vs Euro Spec E36 as it just better as a daily driver. I've heard it multiple times.

Though the E46M, I'm hooked after testing driving a few. Coming from the F80 and I didn't hurt for power or torque. It was good. I was so close to buying on in 2020. Ended up in a house instead

The e36 is a way better car in every metric than the e30, other than just nostalgia, (arguably) looks and all out fun at the limit. The e30 has more feedback, but really needs to be wrung out for everything.

As for the e36 US vs. Euro debate. Literally everything is the same except the euro has 81 more HP and an extra gear.
The s52 (US spec) is more reliable for the most part compared to the Euro s50, but marginally. You just need to adjust valves and do the vanos slightly more often on the euro. If you drive each 100k over 20 years the euro might cost you 10% more in maintenance as long as you actually follow the maintenance.

The 330i zhp (zam) does a great job at being a fun and more reliable daily than the m3, had no problem keeping up with my brother who had an e46 m3 coupe in (most) of the twistys. The m3 looks are just too good though, every time I got in the zhp I wished it was an m3.

interesting - after a deep dive, the guy who won it on C&B's username actually matches the sellers name (sort of) on FB

Could potentially be real, but it's weird

Oh yikes. I take back my endorsement of the black M3. Had no idea it was just a flip of a flip.

Also rod bearings being done in January 2005 means the replaced bearings easily have over 160k km's on them now so new buyer will have to do them again so that's not as much of a selling point anymore :lol

E90? They are pretty much same price as e46s

how's the zhp compared to 135i? or 128i more comparable?

There's no resale value on the latter either.

Low km often means most things are stock - including the big 3 maintenance items. Sure low km sounds appealing but many parts need to be replaced due to the age of the plastic/rubber in them. So $35-40k still has maybe 5-15k on top lol

I'd rather have it done myself so I know exactly which parts are on the car.

SSM_DC5 01-02-2024 10:19 PM

low km or high km, the plastic/rubber items probably need to be replaced anyways.
low km = not changed and worn due to age
high km = neglected items because they aren't part of regular oil changes

I almost wouldn’t even compare them. E46 is very balanced and easy to have fun near the limit without being out of control. LSD would help it even more, but it’s a great amount of power (235) for daily use and enough torque to make it enjoyable. If I had to compare one I’d say closer to 128.

I’ve never owned a 135 or 128 but I’ve driven both, the 135 is really quick, little twitchy when you’re getting after it but I think the 128 is one of the most fun (and underrated) little cars you can own, such a good balance of nimbleness and (enough) power.

68style 01-03-2024 07:02 AM

My problem with the 128i is that it's tiny but it weighs frickin 3300lbs... obscene amount of weight for the size of the car.

Vancouver240sx 01-03-2024 07:56 AM

The 128 is really really good, especially due to the improved suspension vs the e46 ect.

I hate myself for not buying the one I raced with lowside.

That’s considered light in the modern day automotive world.

68style 01-03-2024 08:59 AM

When do you get that same kind of consideration?

Badhobz 01-03-2024 09:43 AM

In Atlanta I’m slim. I’m an Atlanta 8 and a Vancouver 4

16 F-Type 6MT - $45K

twitchyzero 01-03-2024 06:29 PM

the 6cyl uses the same block as the 8 so there's no weight difference or efficiency gained

apparently still sounds very good, i just wish they gave the v8 another pedal

People talk about how engaging and tossable the e36 and e46 m3 and they are like 3-4% less weight wise. Light cars haven't been made since 91 and you'll die instantly when some retard in a rivian or cybertruck hits you, so it's not all that bad.

Can anyone help me find when we were discussing a previous ad for this 94 Celica? Apparently a friend of a friend is interested in it but I can't find when it was posted here or in the fails thread before: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...77262946956124

The world is healing, at last! This is a new 2024 C8 at below MSRP. It's a base 1LT in a basic paint finish and 0 options but MSRP on the configurator for this car is $90,823. I wouldn't want to be the person who bought a C8 in the last couple of years anticipating a flip for profit. I think there are enough C8's in the market now, with Z06's, ERay's and ZR1's coming out that the days of driving and flipping a C8 are over. Now that the prices have come down to earth I'm thinking about selling my 996 C4S for a C8 (but not this one.)

Sometimes when a car comes out, I hate it... and then I slowly start to like it as time goes on.

Other times (like this car) I liked it when it came out... but very quickly that has turned to mild dislike/major dislike. It's just not a good looking car and I'm not sure what would even help it at this point.

I foresee a Toyota Crown in your fleet some day.
