That’s a great buy.

is https://www.drivemotorsports.ca/ one of those dodgy richmond dealers?

jaaagman 01-24-2024 10:17 PM

A 5 lug EP3 with a clean title that doesn't look completely beat to shit

Looks decent, I've always liked those EP3's.

tofu1413 01-25-2024 08:43 AM

EP3 = 2 door honda fit with a K already in it.

Also, the CRV foldable table fits neatly onto the cargo floor....

68style 01-25-2024 08:43 AM

Just buy a RSX for cheaper, same platform and engine lol

That driver seat looks like it's been blown to shit by someone's ass

Gerbs 01-25-2024 09:01 AM

The base RSX was the most boring car I've ever driven lol

JDMDreams 01-25-2024 09:07 AM

Yes that's steep for 160hp. These were like $4000 all day every day

EP3 has superior cargo room and easier to load trunk :lawl: Drop an accord 2.4L in it and enjoy even more torque plus the bonus of still running on 87 !

It amazing how much ikea shopping can be done with an EP3. true story :drunk:

Also had a RSX premium auto for $1200 before. great beater :lawl: But yes, it felt like an appliance but it worked.

Was it an auto you tried?

Manual vs manual. Base RSX is more fun than a Fit.

You talking precovid price? The prices of cars I've been tracking have only just started reaching precovid price and the ones that are, are really poor condition.

JDMDreams 01-25-2024 09:36 AM

^^ I can wait, interest rates are still gonna be high, car market is dead, it's not like a ep3 is gonna appreciate more in 6 months

68style 01-25-2024 09:54 AM

Is it your JDM dream to own a 20 year old Civic hatchback with a shitty engine?

yes.

I just bought myself another EF Civic yesterday :drunk:

68style 01-25-2024 11:02 AM

I was asking JDM Dreams hahaha

I like old cars myself, but it seemed like he's really going long game on pining after a EP3

I tried both manual and auto RSX, also tried manual EP3 and both were relatively mid. They're great $1-4K beaters but nothing to look forward to. Luckily found a type S for $4k.

I think it depends where you are in life. I think going from a 2000 corolla to a RSX would've been a 8 - 10/10. The S2000 down to a base RSX was a punishment lol.

I really enjoyed the truck space it had though, I could dump anything into the hatch and kept the seats folded down year round.

Gerbs 01-25-2024 01:10 PM

Wow M2 almost at $40K for a manual.

We live in a world with high mileage K series Hondas that probably need timing chains soon are approaching 10k....

and in a world where G37/Abarth are around the same price; 986/996/335i/C5/5.0 Mustang GTs are mid 10s

5.0 literally gets 13-14L/100km even with a fair bit of asshole-ry driving.

Abarth > EP3
G37 335i > most sports sedans
5.0 GTs / 135i > Anything quick

If you're gonna spend $3-6K for a POS car that may need a $1-3K in tires, maintenance repairs. Or worse a blown engine in 1-2 years of heavy driving.

May as well get something better for $9 - 15K.

one hundo p.

I'd treat a 986/996 as a disposable car at 10/20k - who cares about a 30k rebuild for bore scoring or IMS when I'm ripping the car into snow/hiking trails/putting a tent on the roof?

even if it blows up in a year ish i only paid around 1k a month for it & can still part it out after

Gerbs 01-25-2024 02:43 PM

Exactly, folks out here are paying $500-700/month for a base model EV or Accord with leather seats.

Treat that $15-20K 996 as a 1-2 year lease, beat the shit out of it, if it doesn't blow up, congrats you won in life lol.

underscore 01-25-2024 02:52 PM

I didn't realize they'd gotten that cheap. A lazy search found a 2000 Boxster S, manual, with the IMS fixed for $18k. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...8852389541857/

twitchyzero 01-25-2024 06:15 PM

80s/90s stuff probably too old for most young car people

i think that's why the rsx, wrx, final celica, mk5 gti, g37 & 350z are the boy racer stuff within reach

JDMDreams 01-25-2024 07:42 PM

Nothing jdm lately interests me, unless you talk about the weird shit rhd stuff that was never available here. I drove an ep3 many years ago, when they were $4000 and it was nothing special. I never liked the look of rsx. Subuwu blows up itself, had a 350z before already. So don't really need a g or 370z. Can't think of any other jdm hot hatch. For $7000 I rather get a Miata. I did test drive an abarth and it was pretty fun. But I'm still unsure about the reliability. That's why I'm kinda considering golf r? I never had a VW, and looked into the mk4 vr6 and it sounded awesome. Del sol is unobtainable or a clean eg civic. Final Celica feels so weird with no torque and the high lift. I might consider a xrs but they are all beat to shit. I've never driven a 5.0 or 128. Tried e90 e93 and it's not bad, but it's not really worth the upkeep cuz it will nickel and dime you for sure. On a car worth $5000 on a good day? :lawl:

All the fun stuff in acceptable condition costs at least $10k these days. A sub $9k Miata is going to be high mileage and beat to shit. Its hard to find an EP3 these days for anything less than $7k, let alone an EK or EG thats not a complete pile. Makes me wonder if there will be any change in the used car market, given the current interest rates. I'm already seeing a ton of new sub-500km "wait list" cars listed on the classifieds nowadays (GR 'rolla, Prius', etc.)

Preludes used to be dirt cheap, but even those have gone up to 5 figures.

An nicer NC in the low teens would probably be the best bang for your buck, but I am finding less and less of those on sale these days. Hell, even an NC1 is pushing high teens which is ridiculous.

headhunt3r 01-27-2024 10:21 PM

Here's a seemingly sorted NC1 in the mid teens. 2.5 swap done
