I've seen how Quebec people treat their cars, no thanks

I'm surprised how much selection there is in Ontario and Quebec compared to here (or Alberta) for Porsches. I've been even a bit surprised that the Halifax Porsche dealer has some good used selection - that was definitely not on my bingo card. The local selection seems to be really heavy on PDKs and either the top end models or over-equipped based models - not a lot of the nicely equipped S models.

If it's a 991/992 or 718 GTS then I'd consider flying out and driving it back but I'd agree with you that for a cheaper model it's probably not worth it unless it's spec'd right and as dukes says, the seller is a good one.

Man, if it isn't near brand new, I can't imagine the exponential abuse Quebec puts on a car compared to here. Even if it's a summer only car, the roads are like someone just poured concrete blindly over our FSRs. The ruts and potholes are actually fucking unfathomable.
I couldn't imagine trying to drive a nice car there.

I would spring for a 987 if your budget can afford it. They are easily more pleasant on the eyes and a lot more comfortable than a 986. A 986 is spartan, and a lot of people need to remember the 986 saved Porsche from bankruptcy. They had to cut a lot of corners to make it work.

Depending on where you look, some late model 986.2, especially the S, will go for around $22K. They have crept up in prices other the year and have come to match the 987.

If you are okay to take on the risks of a 987, it's a better buy but to each their own. I would not hesitate to steer anyone toward that direction. Lots of smiles per mile and value overall. :)

Fuuuuuuck that QP5 is lovely... if I was staying in Van that would be a must get but I'd expect a better price, $30k is more reasonable given the market for them but this one does have exceptionally low mileage I suppose. Needs to be a GTS so justify $40k I think.

iirc it was higher but when the FR-S/BRZ and Genesis came out they dropped the price to compete.

The base model was brought down to $29,999 near the end. But you want the NISMO model anyways which is pricey. The base model has no LSD which is one tire fire all the way.
