MazdaSpeed Miata 2004

Forgot these bad boys existed

bcuzracecarz 05-27-2024 10:05 AM

Not a good buy since new, just discussing more than anything, but this spec is so good. I think these will be a future car people look back on as “the last good of the good convertibles”

2025 Z4 Manuel

:O

I didnt even know they made a high spec manual in new Z4s, they really dropped the ball with the previous generation E89s, you could only get them in auto with the bigger engine.

G29 M40i has been added to my bucket list, maybe in 10-20 years when prices drop

That's pretty decent pricing though - comparable to a Boxster S and quite a bit cheaper than a Boxster GTS. Not as sharp as a Boxster but nicer on the inside.

How do folks maintain a matte paint job like that now? I recall when matte paint first came out that it was a huge pain to maintain.

They just added it back with the Supra getting a manual. I'm guessing Toyota paid for the engineering and BMW piggybacked, or they collectively saw enough market for it and pitched it to make a new sku.

68style 05-27-2024 07:46 PM

Might as well just buy a Supra for $20k less and have a much better handling and lighter car

bcrdukes 05-27-2024 07:49 PM

He wouldn't want to combo-break his BMW streak!

It looks clean, but rebuilt title + manual conversion are huge negatives.

immorality 05-28-2024 08:04 AM

The rebuild title for sure, but the SMT to manual conversion wouldn't bother me. It's like the M3 transmission, where it's an actual manual transmission with a terrible hydraulic-computer control of the clutch.

Badhobz 05-28-2024 08:09 AM

it looks pretty well done though. This wacko spent big bucks on this MR2

68style 05-28-2024 08:24 AM

There's been a few not rebuilt ones sold recently for $10k-ish range, this guy thinking he's going to have a lineup of people at $15k with cracked leather and branded title... he's going to have a rude awakening.

JDMDreams 05-28-2024 08:54 AM

Yes I was looking at the JDM ones and there are low 10. But what storage space. Literally miata has more trunk space.

There's still a lot of work involved that may not have been done correctly. Like did they paint the hole they punched for the clutch pedal, did they swap to the proper brake pedal, what did they do with the wiring, etc. I've just seen too many hackjob auto swaps to ever want to own something that was swapped. Especially when they're asking a premium for it.

True, I think this is one of the cars biggest points against, however, there is some space (yes, it's small) in the frunk, and two, surprisingly large cubbies behind the seats.

Yes, fair points. Although I don't know if they need to cut holes for the master. In my MR2, the holes were already in the chassis from the factory and just had little black stickers over them.

GLOW 05-28-2024 10:31 AM

why look at a JDM one? even though it's a small car, i dunno how much visibility you'll have on left turns... especially dealing with drivers in this city :ohgodwhy: :heckno:

unless it's an issue of limited stock...

headhunt3r 05-28-2024 10:40 AM

Like Hob's irrational desire for the Murano vert, I have an irrational desire for a Juke. Those one-off Juke-R videos really did it for me back in the day. I just need space and an extra 10k lying around to fulfill that desire.

68style 05-28-2024 10:43 AM

That would be the one to get, CVT is the downfall of all the little Nissans... manual cures that

ITS NOT IRRATIONAL ! :okay:

you guys just dont understand how much i love to troll my wife. Driving a teal Murano Cross Cab around is like the ultimate middle finger. I gotta make it as gaudy as possible, put bright gold wheels on it, huge spoiler, and a under glow kit.

Then drive her ass to Holt Renfrew and valet park it

JDMDreams 05-28-2024 11:09 AM

There's very limited local Mrs. They were only available in the USA so all the ones here are imported from US. I just have a MT car itch that hasn't been scratched. Still thinking if I should get a kei car to run around for the lulz.

68style 05-28-2024 11:15 AM

I would say most of the MR-S here are imported from Japan actually... but yes none were sold in Canada.

yeah but you'll be shifting with your left hand and potentially smashing when you make a left handed turn

JDMDreams 05-28-2024 11:48 AM

Rhd isn't bad, just don't drive like an idiot on left turns and be patient. Also you can clearly see the curb so you shouldn't curb your wheels and you get in right from the sidewalk and don't have to walk into traffic. :notbad:

Badhobz 05-28-2024 11:56 AM

you'll never be able to mcdonalds drive thru again!

GLOW 05-28-2024 12:37 PM

that's what curbside is for.
