Why would it cost that much? A 2.5 is like a $600 engine, spend a few hundred on maintenance and cams, it's mostly a drop in. You can definitely run up the bill if you are going ham, but I think 3-4k is doable if you know what you are doing?

Most ppl doing a 2.5 swap knows someone who knows someone who knows someone lol.

Seems reasonably priced for a manual NC?
Was looking for a MR2 then saw this.

If this is the same car that was listed + sold at Openroad for < $11k, then the passenger door will have a bit of a nasty scrape. I would ask for pictures of the passenger side of the car if you're serious (which they've conveniently left out). Otherwise, great price for an NC1 PRHT. Probably the lowest I've seen, even factoring in the mileage.

I've actually always wanted to drive one and see how it compares to the ND. Driven plenty of NAs and Sat in NBs, but never an NC. Usually NC2 PRHT's are in the $19-20k range for a manual.

Definitely the lowest I have seen too. Was going to visit the dealer if I have time this weekend. Now I will request a pic from the other side. They probably wont reply anyway...

This one is interesting because it seems like the seller is motivated to sell. A few weeks ago, it was listed for $65k. Since then, the asking price has been reduced to $63k, then $61.5k, and now $59.5k.

Aside from the 19" wheels, it doesn't seem like there are any bells and whistles. The 2.0L turbo four sounds unspiring, and IIRC, the 2017 cars don't even have PSE as standard equipment. But 300hp + turbo torque is 300hp + turbo torque, so it'll pull very nicely (as long as you're in the right gear).

The right gear part is so key.
The base 718 doesn't have the variable geometry turbo so the lag is so real.

IMO 718 S is the minimum.
I personally think 981 sounds a lot better than 718 GTS 4.0 as well.

I've been browsing NC/NDs lately and I'm shocked at how many of them are automatics - feels like nearly half of them are autos. I've heard autos are not uncommon but it's been really surprising to see.

No disrespect, but a 2L 4 cylinder 300hp dual clutch for 60k+ is a rip off

When you can get a 3.0l 6 cylinder bmw 135i dual clutch for 15-20k. That would easily tune to around 400hp, where the cayman won't.

Cayman may be slightly lighter, but it's no match for a tuned bmw that will save you 40k

If you are still set on paying that much for a cayman, you might as well get a c7 corvette. Very similar interior to an older porsche, but you get a targa top and way more power.

PS, my Evo X had a 4 cylinder almost 300hp engine and that car was made in 2008 and had a dual clutch. The fact that Porsche, a high performance luxury car is still hovering around that performance 15-20 years later is just sad

MR car vs FR car drives very different. These are two very different cars in terms of how they drive. If you haven't driven both to compare, you won't get it.

I don't think anyone buys a Cayman for straight line performance but for its mid-engine chassis. Do I think Porsche made a mistake going to a 4 cylinder in the 982? Yeah but the chassis is the special sauce of the car and it's outstanding in that regard and a 135i or Evo X can't compete on that front even if they are very good cars on their own.
