He has to help the rail strike or how else do you pay cash for cars |
Nah. The bitch ass government is to blame. They had the opportunity to declare conductors as essential workers but instead pussied out. Typical weak ass government. As an ex conductor I stand in solidarity with my railroad brothers. They are underpaid and the work itself is very physically demanding / dangerous. Take those railroad fucks to the cleaners !!! |
Remind me to break your knees the next time I see you, Badhobz. I will take a page out of Tonya Harding's playbook. :accepted: |
My grandparents were also unpaid to work on the railroads and I still have to pay to get on the Skytrain and roller coasters. Feel like I should get least get a few freebies here and there. |
Do you actually have to drive the train? Or everything is just automatic and it auto pilots and you just kinda have to monitor it kinda thing and slow down at stops |

If they were essential workers they could be legislated back to work and couldn't take the railroad fucks to the cleaners. Right? |

But this kind of impact to the Canadian economy should have never been allowed to happen. We are taking over 600 million dollars a day plus whatever trickle down effect of lost business. Bitch ass minister of labor should have stepped in. The feds should have stepped in a long time ago. But now that it is happening….. Fuck it. Goooooo union ! Might as well get them to recognize just how vital our supply lines are. They should at least be making 120k a year to do such a dangerous and vital job. Hell those ups drivers make more. You gents better go stock up on your supplies. It will all be impacted as rail is the lifeblood of the country. You guys remember when that flood cut GVRD off from the rest of the country ? Same shit. Go stock up. |
I heard on the news the conductors were already making $150k even the ticket checkers are at $120. Sign me up to check your ticket. I think it's cuz jagameat and bc ndp love Dem unions so they won't do shit. |

The guys in the yard get 70-80k their first year and its on a spare board basis so you get almost zero sleep and you could be called at any time, day or night. No such thing as weekends, stats, or holidays. Youre going to work. you get just a premium if it lands on a stat. |

i'm curious what industry as a new grad pays $70-$80k on average out the gate. as much as i like to shake my fist at clouds and complain how today's youth have it so easy, i think that salary for a new grad is not the norm, and would say they'd be very lucky to bag a gig that pays that. i could be out of touch with today's market though. |
67-70k + bonuses for news grad engineer x2 98k for news grad at Electronic arts. $42 per hour for new grad Registered Nurse that's part of the union. If 2000 hrs a year that's 84k Sauce: potential renters sending me deets |
Yah exactly. These conductor boys are risking life and limb every time they jump on a railcar (at 5mph supposedly but often it’s much faster as engineers don’t give a shit and always try to get the job done so they can leave earlier). One slip up and your leg is going into that wheel. The amount of crippled conductors can fill a veterans hall. Most have knee issues or back issues if you haven’t lost a limb. It’s gruesome stuff. One of my most hated jobs was down in Lynn creek where I had to hook up the air hoses on every single car for a 1.5 mile train. In the pissing rain, on ballast that’s covered in geese shit, dead animals all around, the smell of rotting grain on the side of cargill. I’ll never forget it. These pussy ass kids nowadays know nothing of real work. The men who do that type of work deserves fair compensation and a good living wage for their families. |
I want to do the least amount of work for the most pay possible. My buddy's work shutdown for two weeks because the person with the credit card that buys paper from Grand and Toy forgot to leave the card and went on Vacation. They could not buy paper anywhere else so the office just did nothing. PS: Does anyone know why I still haven't gotten my passport? It's been 2 months. |

Choice is yours. I did the latter. Other option is be born in another country and be smart and work hard for shit money and a shit lifestyle. |

Whether it be the rail or longshoreman etc. even in the heydays of Berta money I had friends making 120k filling up water stations, but you live in cold lake and work 10 hour days and wake up at 430. I don’t fault anyone who grinds out a decade or two to have a comfortable life because that’s likely the best path they could have taken but when people say just like omg a conductor makes X or Yard guy makes Y, it ain’t what it’s cracked out to be lol |
Aye. That’s why I went into management at CN and then the port authority to escaped the physical torture. Now it’s all psychological and I honestly think it’s worse sometimes. But this country needs these schmucks. Without it, everything crumbles as our major exports are natural resources. You can’t move that kind of volume with trucks or airplanes across this vast country. Only rail…. They got us by the balls. |
