Looks like it has a mugen Gen 1wing too. IIRC it had a long mugen sticker along the whole car and was selling for 14k before. Not sure if new owner or not

Maybe..I guess it depends on the history and how the car was treated.

That was fast.
The car is sold already and I only emailed him 6 hours after he posted it for sale.

He had 30 emails within a few hours. I emailed him within 10 min of the posting and was 7th in line. Must have been a pretty clean car. Congrats to the new owner!

TouringTeg 01-31-2015 06:33 PM

Wow. Plenty of demand for clean title Type Rs! The less modified the better IMO.

At that mileage, the suspension is probably shot which is another $1000-1500 in parts. The ABS module will cost a few hundred to reprogram, unless one knows how to use BMW software. And of course the usual things like the cooling system, transmission, sensors, Vanos, etc.

If anyone wants an E39, I think this seems like a better deal - same car, but lower mileage, transmission rebuild, and sports package goodies:

Wow, I don't know the market on those but seems like a good time for cheap entry cost.

my uncle had one of these. i remember being in it as a kid. molasses slow by even 70's standards so i cannot imagine what it would be like in today's traffic.

harrison ford's character drove a blue squareback in the movie "witness"... dosen't do well against birdhouses :lol

CCA-Dave 02-01-2015 12:58 PM

Well S**t. No room in my garage.

sigh.

Squarebacks are very cool. Watch for rust and rot in the front end, inspect very carefully as repair panels are not available. The squarebacks are a little more challenging to put a performance engine into, because of the "suitcase" motor hidden under the rear floor, but it's not impossible. Definitely can set them up to be more than snails-pace slow. I *think* I might know the car, but based on the photos and price if I hadn't bought the '58 I'd already be on the road to Maple Ridge.

What do you guys think about a 2010 Audi S5. Its has the old V8 which sounds nice at expense of fuel efficiency although this car will probably be used during weekends for me. Reliability is an issue too, I don't want it to die on me.
