Cuz e63 wagons are special order, it's not like a car the dealer will stock. Kinda like gt3, so pretty much you can custom spec it I think.

Yellow calipers with white wheels and white body? Bleh

Interior is a beauty though, almost no plastic anywhere.

Mercedes Designo, BMW Individual, and Porsche Exclusive Manufactur is pretty similar across the board.

I believe BMW has the edge with paint work, and Porsche is more about cabin customization.

Nothing about that E63 stands out as extremely special. BMW offers full leather coverage down to the 3 series, and you can spec out a wide gamut of offered colours and materials. There's no custom embroidery on the E63, the vents are still plastic, the paint is just white. It looks good.

Porsche literally will let you cover everything in leather, including the vent slats and adjustment knob. It's not whether if you could, but rather if you should.

BMW will ALMOST let you paint the car any colour you want. If it's a colour they already offer or has painted before, then it's ~$5k. If it's a brand new colour they will charge a R&D fee, and then a paint fee. Some one tried to order their M3 in McLaren Volcano Orange or Volcano Red. BMW tried but couldn't replicate it in house. So that's a colour that they didn't/couldn't do. They do offer Grigio Telesto (Lambo gray), Ferrari Red, Nardo Gray (Audi). They also offer the gamut of RR colours as well like Purple Silk.

My M3 is painted in Laguna Seca Blue (E46M colour), I paid for it since it is offered. My 2nd choice would have been Atlantis Metallic, then San Marino Blue. I picked a regular interior colour with Silverstone, but in hindsight I should have ordered it in Tartufo.

Fat chance getting paint to sample (PTS) with Porsche.

Make sure you buy a few fully loaded Panameras, Boxsters, 911s (base model and fully optioned) and a few Macans and Cayennes before they'll even let you touch PTS.

Questionable whether is is a 'good' deal but if you are looking for a daily that you don't mind leaving outside, scratches, and fun to drive.

(maybe we change the title of thread as CL has been the shitz for car postings, almost always FB now).

2017 Golf R, $22K, 137,500 kms, worst color though, and a big $11K claim. At a dealer so there is some peace of mind.

Dealer doesn't give me any peace of mind, other than I could rest assured that they gave the customer like $5k less than this selling price.

This ad reeks of them trying to see if they can hook someone before they send it to auction... didn't even try to clean it up for pictures or anything.

^ yah, only peace of mind that I get is that the vehicle has to pass a safety inspection before they sell. If tires are below certain level, they will have to be replaced, there is a pretty long list in the safety, rotors, lights, battery, etc. As well, lien check has to be free and clear. If you know they gave ~ $5K less for a trade-in, then go in with an offer of $2500 less than price posted and see what they say. Or, whatever you feel is reasonable for dealer to make some $$ off of transaction. Negotiate no dealer prep fee or half. And finally, if there is something that goes wrong in the first 30 days you can go back and leverage their reputation to have it made right. I've had some good and positive experiences buying used from dealer.

I've seen that quite often as well, they'll take some pictures as soon as it arrives, post it, then do the detail, inspection, etc. Yes, you would think they wait till it is in better presentable shape. Not sure why they do that ... just to get the info out there?

Edit - here is another posting with the car washed & detailed, different salesperson - https://www.facebook.com/share/19k39vBQx7/

My recent purchase, dealer replaced with 2 new CC's to match previous owner's tires.

Don't call CC's ling longs unless you want the wrath of Badhobz.

Not really defending buying used at dealer vs. private, I've done both. You still have to know some stuff or else dealer can pull a fast one but it's a lot easier to have private seller pull a fast one than a dealer (if you know what you're doing).

If a new set of ling longs cost less than two CC, your car would be speaking chinese.

YMMV; I have seen it both ways of course, but was recently working with a luxury brand dealer in the Okanagan on a used car they had.

Looked very clean and they sent over their in-house inspection. Specified they changed the oil and tires were all 7/32. Everything else was just checked off as 'OK'. The car has some specific things to look into before buying, so I had them bring it to a specialty shop nearby as I know the in-house inspection is pretty surface level.

Among other red flags (that I wouldn't expect a dealer to catch) oil had not been changed in years, tires were 2 to 3/32nd and also 11 years old/cracking. Coolant, brake fluid etc. were all long overdue and should not have passed any visual inspection.

If I was shopping in person, would have easily caught these before opting for a private inspection, so I'm not sure why they didn't bother with at least the basics.

When I went Z4 shopping a few years ago, every single Z4 had tires I've never heard of and all the sales guys were talking about how it's got new tires and brakes.

The best one was a set of Uniroyal Tiger Paws

Spoiler!

Dealerships technicians are as lazy as any other trade / job. "Maintenances/inspections" are "boring" and often times they dont really care to check each item in detail.

It all comes down to whoever the manager hands to keys. Is he hungover, lazy, simply unqualified, did not notice, does not care to notice, list is endless

Furthermore, if they do find XX items wrong but "passable" with a car, theres "no reason" to replace them. That 10,000$ market value car that they paid 6,000$ on trade in, simply cant afford anything more than 1-2,000$ worth of repairs for profit. Managers turn a blind eye, pocket the rest

Used luxury cars are the worst. Because of the repairs/parts they can't really turn over much profit if any. Yet Sales managers keep taking in these trade- ins because they want to sell more new cars. Also no way they going to give you oem parts lol.

You know they're not paying their master tech to do this "safety inspections". It's the 1st year lube tech with a pdf and a few checkboxes.

They're doing this right after they swap the 20th set of winter tires that day.

I like Toyotas automatic drive in check, they told me at my Supra’s 5,000km oil change that my rear tires were over 50% worn and that I should consider changing them… I looked at the service rep and said “I just put new tires on a week ago man, I changed them for my custom rims” and he shrugged it off like no big deal / said sometimes the machine reads it wrong when you don’t drive perfectly straight in.

Okay yah… but you’re still giving advice to people based on that???
