Better off with a 6spd e92 335i imo
Esp with Msport
But I may be bias, but I've also yet to drive any Audi that was better than a BMW; including the TT-RS, excluding the R8

He said he cares about reliability and you're telling him to get a 335 with all its issues? Nay sir.... Nayyyyyy.

Audi's not much better, but the 3.0 supercharged engine is bulletproof. Avoid the V8.

There's already an E90 335i in the family, don't really want to get another 335i haha.

I've had three... and including all my family members, we've had over a dozen cars with the 35i engine. It's issues are def over-exagerated, and definitely a day at the beach compared to Audi.
My gf and her dad both have the 3.0 supercharged and they're very far from bulletproof.

That was the first year only, replaced by a diff design after (and under warranty)

Maybe you got lucky but failed turbos, cats and fuel pumps that die like clockwork every 20,000 miles with no redesign and rumblings of a class action in the USA over it..... Not my idea of a dsy at the beach hahha... Who are we kidding tho German cars suck for ownership costs BMW / Audi / Mercedes there's no shortage of shyte examples

i know about the warranty replacement, but someone i know with an s4 had the second pump fail on him as well, so i have my doubts...

thumper 02-03-2015 08:31 AM

not sure if this has been posted already:

2000 Civic SIR B16a JDM engine 85xxx KM

http://images.craigslist.org/00s0s_a...bV_600x450.jpg

thankfully it's just a wrap and you can peel all that stuff off...

fliptuner 02-03-2015 08:38 AM

Why would he swap a JDM engine if it already came with a B16A?
LR 1/4 repair that's covered by vinyl should also be of some concern.

The early EP3's are prone to a cam galling issue. From my previous research, it seems to me that the problem comes from a matter of metallurgy on the cam, and will manifest itself once the mileage gets high. I am not 100% certain how long the problem has persisted, but I am quite certain that the facelifted EP3 (ie. the ones with 5 lugs from the factory) do not have that cam galling problem.

Personally, I love these cars. The K20 pulls hard, even in the K20A3 guise. The chassis is stiff like a solid block, but I found the brakes to be inadequate, at least on the 4 lug pre-facelift models.

The go-to car is the facelifed, 5 lug car, but clean copies of those seem to be unicorn rare...

That car's been on the market for months. It was originally listed for $19K. I've seen better 6-speed E91s for less without xDrive. You want a RWD wagon anyway - the transfer case is just something else to look after/work around when you're doing suspension maintenance.

Would not pay $36k usd for that thing. Build list doesn't seem all that crazy.
