Do Mazdas still rust and turn to dust once it's paid off?

Yes. Especially in Ontario. I don't even know why people buy Mazda here. You can spot the rust from a mile away and know immediately it's a Mazda.

For whatever reason I used to see loads of rusted out last-gen Proteges with Quebec plates out here. I'm not sure why they were so popular out there or why people kept driving all the way to BC with them.

They probably move out west to escape the harsh winters and by then, it's too late because their Mazda has rusted beyond saving. :lol

Trump's gonna make dumping $1500/mo into an index fund depreciate too. Gonna convert my investment dollars into a diversified portfolio of classics like an ITR, a E39 M5, about 20 NA Miatas, a FD RX-7, a 1G NSX, and an A80 Supra. This will get me through till the next President shows up.

Seems like a lot of car for this $$$. Don't know anything about engine on these but a hot MB hatch. 2016 MB AMG GLA 45, $26,500, low kms.

Does that just need a K20A2 or K24A2 head and a tune to make 200hp?

I just came here to post this. Unless it's about to blow, it seems like an epic deal to me. What am I missing?

jing 03-27-2025 04:01 PM

A very busy steering wheel for starters

bcrdukes 03-27-2025 05:32 PM

Track day everyday.

Not much, just a very limited market for an ugly lifted hot hatch.
I think it's more exciting than a Countryman JCW and Golf R.

Engine is fine - the occasional timing chain tensioner, turbo shaft play and heat bolt/gasket issue.

Need to try Mk8 - had an MK7.5 DSG and MK7.5 6MT with Ohlins.
DSG was on OEM summers and 6MT was on PS4S

So far, I prefer Mustang Mach E GT Performance Pack (Magneride & Pilot Sport 4S)
