It looks like a long hood. If it isn't a complete shitbox and he actually gets back to me I'm might need to find a garage to rent. I wish I knew more about 912s. I just know they are slow as shit.

These were the pics the guy sent to me last night.
I don't know how to tell from replica or genuine
If you ask me, those seats look like the seats you would see at JK.
Last time I was there, years ago, they had a few pairs and they all looked like that, dirty.
Fake Recaro's back adjusters are round.
Real ones are triangular.
There was a thread on Honda-Tech that a member posted with pics of him cleaning his yellow DC2 Recaro's, so it is possible to wash those stains out. How to clean Recaro's

afaik, the 912's were made cus the 911 was too expensive for the "less wealthy" people so they put a 4 cyl in it instead of the flat 6, but then the car ended up handling more neutrally cus of less weight in the back

I feel sorry for him cause he's been trying to sell for a long time and it does look like a decent, mint AP2 S2k. Problem is that rebuilt title really does suck. If you're looking to keep it, I guess it's fine, but if you were gonna sell it later on, well you're gonna get this much difficulty trying to sell.
It seems like a nice car, but I think the main issue is where the car is rebuilt + US car which is a "dual turn off" I guess? Takes away from the peace of mind.
However, considering how expensive OEM parts were for the AP2, a low speed accident requiring a single headlight, fender, and bumper would probably write off the car. If you're alright with having a rebuilt title then I say it's a good buy, as a simple repair would get the car back into tip top shape.
On a personal note, I think having a video ripping down the block gives an impression that the car is driven hard. But that's just my preference, hope you don't mind *illegal !

I agree with the rebuilt title being a big turn off. If it had a huge claim for over 15k but was a clean title, and wasn't straight piped (proper exhaust instead) I would have purchased it a long time ago.
If you haven't seen this yet, looks like a fake ad. I noticed that the cars in the background have no front plates and decided to reverse image search.
One of the two photos is from Miami Florida and another somewhere else. Two different cars from old FS ads on S2ki.
^^thanks for posting that! I had no idea that was a fake ad, well not expecting a reply anytime soon lol
I also agree with most of you regarding the reds2k, being a US car and having a rebuilt title where it was repaired in the states (not ICBC) is a big big turnoff for that car. If it was even rebuilt local it would give me a little more confidence
As an ex s2k owner, US import doesn't concern me at all. Just the rebuilt. You are thoroughly checking the car before purchasing anyway. If there is no frame damage and everything else checks out fine, one can just buy rebuilt if he plans on keeping it for a long time. 95% of s2ks here are imported anyway, and for awesome color like Laguna blue, they were only produced in the states. There's almost no way of telling if he s2k is an US import by the look of it since you can flip to km from mile with a push of a button.

I think the point he is trying to make is that the car being repaired in the states makes him nervous. All that a rebuild inspection does in the states is check if you use stolen parts in the rebuild, not if its fixed properly like an ICBC inspection. Either way, any concerns can be addressed in a proper PPI if anyone has interest in the car. At the price its worth a look I think.

If you are concerned about it being rebuilt have it taken to Honda and have them go over it fully. That's the best thing to do if you want to buy the car but are worried about the rebuilt status.
Explain everything to them about the car and being rebuilt and they will know what to look for as well.

I think the best thing to do before purchasing ANY used vehicle is a good PPI...

^ +1.
Dodged a bullet when I almost bought another Mercedes 300TE, which was riddled with small issues here and there totaling several thousand dollars to address.

rebuild inspections vary by state.
checking for stolen parts is a federal requirement, beyond that many states require a safety inspection before you can title a salvage. best to get a vehicle history report, do your research, and only then pay for a PPI. I think ICBC has one of the more stringent inspection requirements though so id be most comfortable buying a vehicle that was rebuild locally.
that said one of my favorite vehicles ive ever owned was a rebuild and i ended up selling it for a profit.
Good points guys, I do agree that if the car were a long term keeper I would be ok with a rebuilt title(fixed by ICBC or states) upon a good PPI. Just worried for resale later on.
I have a feeling that the fake ad was made by the black S2000 with the red interior that kept getting flagged. The (made-up) specs are very close and mileage is close as well. But that's just an assumption lol
