There's almost no way of telling if he s2k is an US import by the look of it since you can flip to km from mile with a push of a button.

you can tell by looking at the cluster. us ones the hand brake light says brake while canadian ones use the symbol

Pretty sure it's because Canada had two official languages and a light that says Brake/Frein would be ugly

Whats the point of fake ads? Are they trying to get people from out of province to buy and wire them money?

68style 02-11-2015 10:00 PM

You don't need any silly dashboard gimmicks, you can tell if its a US Import on any car (or motorcycle) by just looking at the vehicle registration... under import code it says "FOREIGN IMPORT"

For this particular case I am guessing it's the owner of the black one with red interior posted a few pages back trying to test a post to see if it gets flagged.

I'm only guessing this because of the following,
- Someone keeps flagging his black AP1 post, he says this in every new post
- Similar mileage
- States that it's a clean title
- Similar specs like red interior, glass soft top

I'd still check the cluster, with how many of them have been brought in and considering the nature of the car it wouldn't surprise me to see a USDM car that someone swapped the VINs on or a Canadian car with a lower km USDM cluster tossed in.

ravenhill 02-12-2015 09:42 AM

You can also tell if an s2k is a former US car by whether it has airbag warning stickers on the sunvisors. Canadian cars didn't get the stickers.

This is super useful when you're just going by a couple photos in an ad.

$6 grand? How about the 4-5 Type S for nearly the same price

Not a good deal. Premium means regular strength (160hp K20A3) only. Mileage shouldn't be a problem for Honda cars, so look for a Type S with higher mileage instead. Prices will roughly be the same.

$45k is quite high IMO for a 2009. If you're patient, $45k should get a 2010 or even a 2011 with comp package. Problem is there aren't too many people selling, so prices out here in the west are a lot higher. Maybe in the summer, prices go down a bit.

However, considering how expensive OEM parts were for the AP2, a low speed accident requiring a single headlight, fender, and bumper would probably write off the car. If you're alright with having a rebuilt title then I say it's a good buy, as a simple repair would get the car back into tip top shape.

On a personal note, I think having a video ripping down the block gives an impression that the car is driven hard. But that's just my preference, hope you don't mind *illegal !

I wasn't ripping down the road, the car is just really loud lol. If I were ripping it, you would hear vtec. That was only 4500 rpm, and it was a video made by request from a few people.
I baby the shit out of the s2000, in fact I baby all my cars I've owned.. The car was repaired in maple ridge by a honda mechanic and S2000 enthusiast, done properly. I have a full oem AP2 catback exhaust that's why I didn't mind the straight pipes. People can assume all they want, I had the car inspected before I bought it. If I didn't get into my program only a month after buying the car, and waiting for 2 years to get in, I wouldnt be selling it.

I also agree with most of you regarding the reds2k, being a US car and having a rebuilt title where it was repaired in the states (not ICBC) is a big big turnoff for that car. If it was even rebuilt local it would give me a little more confidence

The car was in fact repaired here in maple ridge by a honda mechanic. This is not the first S2000 he bought and fixed up, he was an enthusiast and knows everything about these cars.

Sorry about the lot of replies, just trying to fix any confusions or allegations. Anyone that knows me, knows I don't beat on my cars, I'm always all show kinda guy. Love this car but priorities are different right now. Hence why I lowered the price. Anyone and everyone is welcome to do any inspection beforehand, the car is in great condition. I'm not trying to sell it because it's a headache, I just want the money so I can leave work for a bit and focus on school, thanks everyone's kind words otherwise, better not to assume if you don't really know the truth.

fliptuner 02-12-2015 06:11 PM

If you had pre/post repair pics and documentation, I'm sure it would alleviate a lot concerns potential buyers may have.

This. The best way to sell a rebuilt car is to let potential buyers know that you have all the documents ready (any maintenance, repair, etc.) and willing to even reimburse the detailed inspection expense done upon purchase. That'll likely draw more interests.

I didn't mean to offend you in any way *illegal, I just stated that I rather not post a exhaust video because it gives a bad impression on the sale.

It is a clean looking car based on photos, good luck with sale
