I know this is starting to become a "thread jacking", but the plot thickened substantially on that GT3RS today; 8AM, told they have received a deposit from an American. 1PM, told the American has withdrawn. (Eat a dick YANKEEEEE!!!!) 1:01PM, get raging hard-in. 1:02PM get told they will hold the car for me until tomorrow at Noon GMT, they will accept a deal w/ signed bill of sale pending inspection at local Porsche dealer. I will be visiting the bank tomorrow @ 11AM to see if they want to give me some money. Moving right along then, the big picture; GT3 RS Registry -- VIN ...2717 I don't know much about this car, has clean carfax and DME report, according to the locals I know in the area OB Prestige is not a shady dealer. Car has limited options, is essentially a stripper - which is fine with me, and it's in my second favourite 997.1 GT3 RS color. It is not a well documented car, and may have some unreported accidents. Could there be some surprises that come up? Yes.. and I would be pissed. On the flip side, my car is perfect, and perfectly documented, though that presents two problems. First of all I do find myself avoiding long trips to keep the KM down :facepalm: and it's not, and never will be a GT3 RS. But, and this is a big but, there is no reason why that car can't be "My GT3 RS", there is nothing stopping me from doing GT3 RS rear body conversion and 997.2 RS front fender extensions etc. If I actually crossed that line with the car where I was willing to do a quarter panel swap I would immediately reach the point of not caring about how many miles are on it or how many times I hit cones at the track etc. It's MY car and I could care less about resale and collector shit. Thoughts? Should I just hold onto my peach and molest it when the time is right? In addition to all the above, my Porsche dealer contact here was all butt hurt when I asked to withdraw my GT4 deposit today. |
Buy the Rs. Sell gt3 to me in a year when my wife is done school. Everyone wins. But seriously. Buy the Rs. |

911's were meant to be driven. Even though my 993 has been appreciating like crazy the last 18 months, I have to remember that I bought it to drive and enjoy. Not to park it and keep the kms down. Like Mooty on Rennlist says "Buy, drive, smile." Now the GT cars have all seen large increases as well especially RS, RS 3.8, RS 4.0, GT2. I know that there aren't as many GT3 RS hitting the track anymore. If you do track it hats off to you. If you find that it is too much money to risk on the track you could build something purpose built for the track. Cayman track cars are readily available and you don't have to worry about values.
