I know this is starting to become a "thread jacking", but the plot thickened substantially on that GT3RS today;

8AM, told they have received a deposit from an American.

1PM, told the American has withdrawn. (Eat a dick YANKEEEEE!!!!)

1:01PM, get raging hard-in.

1:02PM get told they will hold the car for me until tomorrow at Noon GMT, they will accept a deal w/ signed bill of sale pending inspection at local Porsche dealer.

I will be visiting the bank tomorrow @ 11AM to see if they want to give me some money.

Moving right along then, the big picture;

GT3 RS Registry -- VIN ...2717

I don't know much about this car, has clean carfax and DME report, according to the locals I know in the area OB Prestige is not a shady dealer. Car has limited options, is essentially a stripper - which is fine with me, and it's in my second favourite 997.1 GT3 RS color. It is not a well documented car, and may have some unreported accidents. Could there be some surprises that come up? Yes.. and I would be pissed.

On the flip side, my car is perfect, and perfectly documented, though that presents two problems. First of all I do find myself avoiding long trips to keep the KM down :facepalm: and it's not, and never will be a GT3 RS.

But, and this is a big but, there is no reason why that car can't be "My GT3 RS", there is nothing stopping me from doing GT3 RS rear body conversion and 997.2 RS front fender extensions etc. If I actually crossed that line with the car where I was willing to do a quarter panel swap I would immediately reach the point of not caring about how many miles are on it or how many times I hit cones at the track etc. It's MY car and I could care less about resale and collector shit.

Thoughts? Should I just hold onto my peach and molest it when the time is right?

In addition to all the above, my Porsche dealer contact here was all butt hurt when I asked to withdraw my GT4 deposit today.

Buy the Rs. Sell gt3 to me in a year when my wife is done school. Everyone wins. But seriously. Buy the Rs.

The best "factual" historical data I will get is from the GT3 RS Registry.

Car was supposedly tracked at Calabogie Motorsports park, and also spent a considerable amount of time at the paddocks in a rented garage.

It all depends on what your end game is. One important thing I learned last spring from a guy I was renting a garage from; you can't be "attached" to a car you take to the track. If you're truly wanting to beat the piss and race the shit out of your car you will never know your true potential if you're driving something you deemed to a collector. I'd say wait a bit, cut up your current car, do some mods, and then flog the piss out of it. What's the use in having a nice car if all you do is stare at it in the garage?

That's my opinion. Obviously, you should probably just own both cars. One to appreciate in value and never drive and one to beat up :whistle: hahaha

If you're having a hard enough time actually using your current car, would you even use the RS? Why give up a car that you know everything about for a mystery car when you're already not using your car? I don't know a ton about the GT3 vs GT3 RS but from what I can tell the differences aren't worth the risk of known vs unknown IMO.

911's were meant to be driven. Even though my 993 has been appreciating like crazy the last 18 months, I have to remember that I bought it to drive and enjoy. Not to park it and keep the kms down. Like Mooty on Rennlist says "Buy, drive, smile."

Now the GT cars have all seen large increases as well especially RS, RS 3.8, RS 4.0, GT2. I know that there aren't as many GT3 RS hitting the track anymore. If you do track it hats off to you. If you find that it is too much money to risk on the track you could build something purpose built for the track. Cayman track cars are readily available and you don't have to worry about values.

Good enough. Clean car checks are great for purchase assurance and future sale/collector value. While service records are nice, it's not a deal breaker with such low kms. Get an inspection with ecu check(they can do that right? over-revs and whatnot?). That should paint a good overall picture. Confirm zero winter driving.

If Porsche can look for any over-revs or signs of abuse that will tell the tale. The car IS a track car so the fact that it was actually tracked isn't a shocker. If anything a few track days is good for it to stretch it's legs each year. As long as it hasn't been shit-kicked and the inspection/ecu check comes back clean you should be good, both from a collector stand point or as a buyer ready to use it.

My offer to purchase would be subject to an inspection completed by the local Porsche dealer which identifies no "significant" accident repair work required mechanical repairs. The dealer has already confirmed they have no issue with this.

Albeit, double the mileage but local apparently

Porsche center lock wheels on this one -- not a good option if you plan on regularly tracking the car. The East Coast car has the regular 5 lug wheels and is more suitable if lapping is in the plans.

I believe the local RS has a nasty DME report, range 5 over revs. (Unconfirmed personally)

Doubtful, I think a 991 GT3 would be more likely at this point than a GT4 for me.

I worry the engine in the GT4 will feel like a bit of a lame duck compared to a "proper" GT engine. #porschesnob incase you didn't know, it takes about 8 months of porsche ownership before you turn into a douchebag aficionado.

Realistically, the gloves are coming off, my GT3 will get molested.
