I'm also curious. I PM'd the guy but I'm suspecting a bidding war took place and he got over $10k for it. Curious if it was the same one that was for sale last summer for $12,500.

1997 Acura Integra Type R - 10,xxx miles. This is the unicorn piece that myself and a few other have been waiting for. I feel this saying is getting old but if the dollar was better I'd be a player for sure. Auction ends March 21. We're thinking it'll drift north of $30k.

Acura Integra Type R | eBay

1 day left on the auction, this car is up to $40K usd. :accepted:

68style 03-20-2015 06:05 PM

See if it actualy sells... Sooooooo many non-paying bidders on eBay nowadays it's ridiculous

westopher 03-20-2015 06:07 PM

So many people driving up their own auctions as well. There was a real sketchbag e36 m3 listed about 10 times. Ended up around 20k every time and "non paying bidders" each time as well. The car couldn't have been worth more than 6k

TouringTeg 03-20-2015 06:31 PM

Speaking of low mileage beauties on Ebay, check out this 964. 94, manual, C2, sport seats, last year of production, 8000 miles. Up to 85k USD (108k CDN)

Porsche 911 Carrera 2 | eBay

We've all been watching that ITR. It seems like lots of different car groups are following it as well. Definitely a mile stone. Would be such a burn if it was a non-paying bidder. Seller is completely legit though.

jasonturbo 03-20-2015 07:44 PM

It's not unreasonable for that ITR to fetch a major premium, many of the kids who grew up idolizing that car have had time to establish their careers etc... probably more than a few people with lots of money to burn who wanted one of those cars so bad growing up.

320icar 03-20-2015 07:50 PM

^^ very good way to say it. I know my brother isn't huge into cars, but has always LOVED the ITR. Never willing to buy one though since it would end up a daily. I think he'd prefer to own one in a few years and find a sub-100k km car for weekends

I'm still in school:okay:

Ex Miami car.
Imported in 2006.
Car has a $9K claim back in the US.
Needs a few minor things and rear tires.

Sounds like a pretty good deal if everything checks out, only concern is it doesn't look like the RMS and IMS bearings have been done yet so it could be a ticking time bomb.

*Edit* owner said the car has 170K km's. Very tempting.

Sounds like a good deal - check for any transmission whining, second gear popout (needs an extended test-drive). They eat tires no matter what. Make sure it hot-starts OK. An overly stiff clutch can be a sign that it's tired. They don't last that long.

A proper PPI is a good idea, it won't tell you about the IMS condition (although they may spot oil leaks) but they can tell you about over-revs and cam deviation. There are high-mile cars on rennlist (especially early cars) that haven't needed much. Find out where it's been serviced. Hopefully a porsche shop. I'd like to see that the PO was willing to spend money anytime it was needed. I'd like to see a waterpump receipt, and an air/oil sep service/replacement would be great to see in the receipt stack.

Also a lot of sellers that back out, I've had 3 sellers bail on me within the last few months :rukidding:

Acura Integra Type R | eBay

The collected ITR just sold on Ebay for 43.3K USD (54.5K CAD)

Last 30 seconds the price jumped about 2K USD.

1997 E36 BMW M3 Coupe Estoril Blue

Mileage seems quite high, and it's a US car. But damn... why are these old Bimmers so sexy?

As I figured it would. Crazy that it hit above $40k. Type R owners are pulling the car covers off theirs now. There will be an influx of ITR sales shortly.

ts14 03-22-2015 03:04 PM

All the cars that are booming in price are the cars I don't own :okay:

He's on here. Seriously though US cars do not matter if it's been kept by a responsible owner(s)

Seen it in person multiple times. Anything that CG has worked on will be well taken care of and the parts list is basically upgrades of all the components that would have needed replacement by now anyways.

It's not a stock car, and some of the exterior mods aren't the route I would go, but all reversible. These S52's take a lot of heat for not being "euro m3" motors but they're really stout. The milage wouldn't scare me at all.

I hope this goes for asking - I own the same colour car/same year. The "rule-of-thumb" on these is you're going to spend 10k US whether you buy a clean one or a beater. This is a great choice for something that doesn't need any work. (seller should update pics though - these are a season old I think)

twitchyzero 03-22-2015 08:15 PM

I know velocity cars doesn't have a good rep...but if this isn't a R grade and checks out okay it's a decent deal...could probably do some decent haggling since there probably isn't much of a market for these here

DB8 ITR are rare...less than 500 made in 99

It looked really dirty when i saw it in person. It stopped my interests dead in its track

but i don't know, could be a gem

68style 03-22-2015 08:17 PM

What the hell happened to that valve cover :heckno:

thumper 03-22-2015 08:23 PM

it's been for sale for several months now. it's been in inventory before they moved to the new location... it's like they just don't care

Here's a local one for $600 more - Honda Integra Type-R DC2 | used cars & trucks | Vancouver | Kijiji

white rocket 03-22-2015 09:09 PM

I considered that DB8R but I just can't deal with RHD. Would be a cool car to have though. I'd be in the $6.5k range on a purchase.

!Kodamu 03-22-2015 09:24 PM

This was back when the car first landed here

You would be better off importing your own DB8. There are alot that goes through the auctions so quite a bit of choice.

Typical dealership crap to "help" sell the car. The lot boy either uses a hose at full blast or pressure washes the engine bay and uses some shiny stuff to dress up the plastics, but in this case the pressured water takes off the valve cover paint.
I've seen shady dealers spray paint heat shields to try to make the car more appealing.

I did the same thing to my wife's B20 in her CRV. FailFish
