I was sitting here reading the post and thinking the exact same thing. I kinda wish it was white or silver and for a LHD that is a good price considering what other sellers ask for theirs. Not sure about the "SE" trim or the single turbo stuff though.

Suprarz666 06-03-2014 05:55 PM

Price is low because its NA-t and 5speed.
Although the NA-T is not bad, the 5 speed tranny is quite weak in these cars.

It is priced reasonably though.

A car with a 23g damage and a clean title vs a rebuilt title car is completely different. Rebuilts are cars that are purchased back from ICBC salvage by some greasy rebuilders in surrey. Most likely built with cheap parts and cost effective short cuts in mind. Wheareas, ICBC repairs are built top notch to meet factory standards with no expenses spared. Because its paid by the government

I think you're giving a lot of autobody shops in the lower mainland too much credit.

westopher 06-04-2014 07:35 AM

I've had a car repaired from an ICBC claim, and from an under the table cash job by buddy guy man in whalley and both were complete shit. The ICBC repair just took me a little longer to find out that it was. Bodywork really is a crapshoot. Its not like it can't be done well but I'd even go to say the majority of shops are not capable of fixing a car to OEM standards.

Hey need some opinions on this

2008 honda S2000 64500Km

I went to view it in person a few weeks ago, car looks to be in excellent shape, however 1 thing threw me off. It is missing the VIN stickers on the underside of the hood and on the front driver's side fender. I also noticed in the pictures I took that the driver's side fender is slightly mismatched in colour.

The suspicious part about all this is that the 3 insurance claims/repairs do not pertain to the hood or the driver's side front. Carproof states "Right Front Corner" and the other 2 are rear. Is it even worth it to bring it to a shop for a PPI or should I just skip this one?

I would not touch that one unless you are able to get a smashing deal. It has been posted many years in a row and did not sell. I believe the previous owner was moving and was advertising it for ~$23-24k.

Hey, thanks for the heads up. The current owner bought the car in Oct 2013. Just noticed the car is advertised as 'grey'... it's chicane silver. I don't think the current owner even knows that.

Thanks guys, guess I'll cancel the PPI.

hud 91gt 06-04-2014 09:54 AM

Is it a BC car? I believe ICBC claim reports only checks Canadian history (Maybe only BC?). CarFax to be sure.

jpark 06-04-2014 10:01 AM

damn thats pretty bad. Silverstone metallic is a pretty hard color to match though along with Sebring silver. It probably wasnt in too much of a big accident, its just they did a crappy job color matching the car with new panels.
Also, note that s2k fenders are very fragile. i had a small dent from rear ending this suv. Thought it was repairable but body shop just ordered a new fender for me since it was hard to shape it back (lots of curves and bends). So it doesnt necessarily mean its bad

Wow, didn't know that about the fender... good to know, thanks.

It's a US import from Florida. Car was imported in 2010 or so. Carproof shows no accident history or claims while it was in the States.

I'm not concerned about the car having an accident, but more so the fact that there are undocumented accident(s)..

Im not saying go ahead every icbc claim repaired cars are well done. But Daredevil pretty much categorized a clean title car with a dec and a rebuilt car under the same roof. Just wanted to clarify because ICBC claim repairs have absolutely no reason to cut cost since its all paid out by ICBC. Of course the quality of craftsmanship may differ depending on which body shop works on the car and thats why you gotta be careful which bodyshop you choose :D

Wow... I'm very surprised of how well the S2000s are holding their value. Regret selling mine.

On that 2008 S2000, I hate how the owner says carfax at your own expense. At least prepare the reports to back what you say.

Haha I found out that many cars on their lot have been there since 2011/2012. From what I've read online, they import their s2000's from the States. I spoke to one of their sales reps and they are completely firm on their prices.

jpark 06-04-2014 10:45 AM

yea man.. 23g for a MY00 AP1.. wtf?

The price has actually increased over the last few years.

^ Good choice, i'd wait for a pristine S2K to pop up, especially if you plan on keeping it for a while.
