I know this is the CL thread, but does anyone know any other good sites to look for used Ruckus' in the GVA?

Or if anyone reading this has one neglected in the garage, fire me a PM :)

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

Besides the obvious sites, any local forums etc that might be of use would be appreciated.

TIA

That would be a very nice buy.

It cost over a million and currently has only 1250 kilometres, so I think this is a good buy?

For 900k you could have a fleet of cars much more stylish

If it isn't going to a race track, having a car like this is kind of tacky, especially in the city

SpeedStars 03-29-2015 01:05 PM

The 918's a fake ad. The company selling it is in Yorkshire and so is the car. The CL ad also doesn't post the license plate which was in the company ad

agreed. even for the $300k a used Lamborghini or Ferrari would end up costing, i'd much rather have a few different cars instead.

MindBomber 03-29-2015 01:23 PM

Hey, I didn't say I would buy it if it were ever in my budget.

The only car that expensive that I would ever consider buying is a 300sl or DB3.

1pc lights are plastic (cracked tabs, condensation and yellowed)
driven on with the leaking rad
op said it blew white clouds
fair sized oil leak between top/bottom end
new dist but for some reason only held on w/ 2 bolts
needs fender and door
1/4's solid but random surface rust on rockers
int pretty dirty, drivers seat ripped
2nd gear grind up and down

IMO only worth it for the drivetrain but I was skeptical about poss HG failure/warpage due to overheating and comments made by op.

now it's $12,900 firm, wondering anyone checked it out yet?

Dear god that's cheap. High km's but still. Seems like a good deal to me.

Seller states that it needs a new radiator, but judging from the picture, the radiator looks pretty new. Did you actually see a leak on the rad when the engine was running?

Just curious from those more experienced with Porsches than I am, what kind of cost of ownership can one expect from a 16.5-year-old Porsche with close to 200k km on it?

Meh, any number of things can blow a rad, new or not. However, yes, coolant spewing directly onto the exhaust manifold as soon as the system pressurized a little bit. Replacement rad would be the least of your concern if buying it.

Running costs could actually be quite low, for the non-Mezger 996 car's the biggest concerns would be limited to the IMS failure or D-chunk cylinder failure.. ultimately if it happens it happens.

Otherwise you wouldn't really feel as though it costs anymore than a run of the mill BMW/Benz etc. Yeah the little knick knacks would add up quick (failing non-essential electronics) but Porsches are known for being fairly rock solid and reliable.

It would be just as/if not more reliable than any other German/Japanese car IMO.

westopher 03-29-2015 07:05 PM

I will be so disappoint if no one from here snags it. I predict it's listed for 20k next week at a shitty dealer if no one does.

punkwax 03-29-2015 08:19 PM

The 911 is both tempting and fucking scary at that price. I could see some skeletons in that closet.

Depends where the rad is from, if it's an no name special it wouldn't surprise me if it had a pinhole leak.

like they say, a cheap Porsche is an expensive Porsche.

SpartanAir 03-30-2015 09:15 AM

True. Worded differently, as they say on Rennlist, "There's nothing more expensive than a cheap Porsche."

I learned that lesson with my '83 944. High mileage, tons of little annoying issues before even addressing the cosmetic ones. Traded up to a mint garage-kept '86, for which I paid 2.5x as much. But worth every penny, as everything worked like new.

GabAlmighty 03-30-2015 09:24 AM

But for someone like myself who just wants to make a track car/weekend abuse machine... The 996 posted above would be perfect.
