Why would a dealership not check the title right away before the trade..

It takes a click of a button.

It happens, some sales reps would take in a trade and snap some pics with their phone and put it up on Craigslist asap before even giving it a wash just so they can have a higher chance to make a sale. Before the dealer actually takes it in as inventory.

I don't believe that story for a second

Every dealer I've worked at pulled up the reports before accepting trade - at the very least checking the cars status... It's free on Icbc's website

All these prices on craigslist for s2000 is so high....I feel sad i let mine go for so low. Are people really willing to pay that much for one?
Nope, you may be lucky and get the once in a while uninformed buyer who will overpay. But most sellers are taking advantage of the high exchange rate and the lack of supply to try and demand higher prices, and maybe because the summer season is here. But as someone on the last page posted, only those with clean mint and stock s2000 are able to command a premium

Btw isn't that dealership known to be sort of Richmond's version of the sketchy Kingsway dealership? Lol

It was posted as a rebuilt on the dealer site anyways. Whatever they already tried to fix the ad asap, but it got flagged. They might just wholesale the car because it's pretty rough.

^^Rust may be a concern for me personally but it depends on if you would want to fix it or leave as is if used as a track car. Sounds like he cut off the rust bits and sealed it to prevent further cancer. Considering the prices of these lately that almost sounds like a good deal.

I think the AE86 is next in line behind the DC2-R in terms of lower budget but desirable Japanese cars (The NA1/2, MKIV, and FD all being in higher price bracket). So, it seems like a good price to get into one at.

Agreed. Unfortunately, there are a lot more people looking for an s2000 than there are sellers, which means people are more than willing to pay a premium to get one. I lucked out with mine last year, it's not mint but stock, which was what I was mainly looking for. Even in the States, the prices are slowly appreciating.. there are several threads about this on s2ki

To anyone looking to buy an S2000, post a WTB listing on CL, I had one up last year and received quite a few responses. Most were ridiculously overpriced but there were at least 2-3 that were at fair prices.

It is worth noting that the GTS never came from the factory in that color as per this: http://www.toyotareference.com/charts/CO84C.png , so that may mean either it is a very rare color, or an SR5 that is converted to GTS.

Other than the body, it seems to be a very mechanically solid vehicle... really is too bad about the color lol.

RE: 2007 Acura TL 3.2 (blk on blk)

Hey All,

Just FYI - this car was up for sale last summer, went to see it but the service records didn't quite match up. The owner said that the car was dealer maintained but when I showed up, there were a mess of receipts from Mr. Lube and other fast/cheap oil change places. This was a red flag to me as I make sure ALL history and words from the buyers are in-line before buying a used car. Who knows what other work was "done" but not actually done, or done by a cheap mechanic.

Your money, your choice. Buy carefully! Best of luck!

The only real downer for me is I think you could get one for the same money with less miles on it - primarily for resale reasons if you just wanted to try one of these for a summer.

20k all-in would be my number.

^ + 996 I would rather save for a 996 TT, GT2 or GT3. The last two are not easily attainable of course.

The early 996 steering wheel is the same as my 993. The later crested 3 spoke wheel is an easy and popular upgrade.
