Was just researching this the other night and came across this:

Basically, unless you are a US resident, citizen or company, you need an agent to do it for you. If the seller is willing to be an agent, they will need to apply for an IRS tax id number (separate from their SSN) and submit the export info electronically. If you can find a seller willing to do that, then great. OTherwise, it's get an agent.

Do you really think anyone wanting a 1 owner survivor car is going to pass on it simply because of that? It's not like they can just wait for another one next week.

And there it is. The absolute pinnacle of automotive collectables for me. Something tells me it's a fake ad though. Tempted to email but no need to waste peoples time.

not a CL deal or anything, but seems like a good place to ask:
My friend will be moving to the states for 2 years and needs to bring his car down to Cali. Does anyone know a dealer that will help him with this? I think LPAuto will do it, if they're still around.. but I'd be interested in any recommendations

Is there a list of recommended agents?

fiero lambo! looks like it needs everything done.. i've always wanted to build one of these..

i didn't realize RSXs are approaching 15 years and quite a few are priced below $5k. They may not be regarded as animated as Integras but there's lots of bang for buck there for a reliable 200hp 3-door hatch that responds well to ample supply of bolt-ons not to mention k-pro hondata

i admit i have zero knowledge of classics and what it means to be a survivor. i also don't know much about retro SLs other than a well-documented gullwing fetches a pretty penny. So what would have happened in the original 12 years of the car by the first owner? engine rebuild?

geez louise apparently they were sold at $4K brand new which is $30k today's money...$100K less than the new Mercedes-AMG that's already deemed aggressively priced

Basic bitch problems with DC5S's since that one above was posted...

Gearbox grind - usually 2nd or 3rd, could be an easy clutch pedal adjustment if it feels like the clutch bite point is too low, could also be as bad as needing a new clutch or gearbox rebuild.

Tail light gasket failure - indicated by a pool of water where the spare tire is located. Easy fix with $10 gaskets.

SRS light turns on and never turns itself off. Not sure if people ever get this fixed or not.

Regular Honda door actuator - quick and cheap fix but it isn't a huge inconvenience if you rarely have a passenger :foreveralone:

Awesome deal even if it needs a new clutch/gearbox. Priced 2.5-3k below what it's worth.

Yeah two different cars, the one was on autotrader a couple months back and was obviously snapped up by a local dealer and shipped across the country.

Bob's car is the better deal by far, I suspect will be sold to an American immediately.

That's Bob Rouleau's car. If thoughts of a 7'RS kept me up at night (and I had much deeper pockets), I would not hesitate for a second buying from Bob.

Bob's car is the 40K one, not the 30K one, two different cars.
