it's complicated, but its not hard..
buy the car, have title in hand
fax docs to border
wait 72 hours
drive across, pay $
do prov/fed inspection
insure at icbc

In fairness it's been a LONG time since I wrote that, but the general process is still mostly the same.

Isn't there that new rule where you have to get an agent/broker involved?

There is now an extra step called the Automated Export System. What is the Automated Export System (AES)?
The Automated Export System (AES) is a mandatory Electronic Export Information (EEI) filing requirement regulated by U.S. Census.
All exports of used self-propelled vehicles, regardless of value, will be required to file EEI through AES.
The export process begins when a vehicle is purchased in the U.S. and the owner wishes to export the vehicle. The exporter or an authorized agent transmits the vehicle export information electronically using AES.
AES validates the EEI data and generates a confirmation message in the form of an Internal Transaction Number (ITN).
Note: You must exit the U.S. on the date submitted on AES.
CBP recommends that you contact the U.S. customs office where you plan to cross
into Canada to verify the documentation required and their hours of operation. |

I need thoughts
Got a good deal on another genesis
Red 2011 w/ the same package as mine
Mileage in the 70k, but it's a manual
Mine is a 2012 w/ 30k
I can easily swap all my stuff over then resell mine in stock form
At this point I'm thinking worth it
Gotta get on that manual life

Can you get the other person to add money on top? If yes, then I'd definitely do it.
Even if they won't add money, if the condition of the other car is as good as yours then I would consider it just to get the manual.

Don't forget right now with the Takata recall, it will be a while before you will get the Airbag recall done. Quote:

Gotta get on that manual life | what kind of driving has it had? i've seen city driven manuals with a dead clutch at 70-100k kms...

Gotta get on that manual life | are you straight trading the car? or are you buying the Red one, then selling your own car after?
if you trade, there is no money involved, and you save taxes
If you are buying then reselling, keep in mind that you have to pay taxes as well!

It is in place already, the VIN checker is already up.. so it has to be done before export. Quote:
