That's a lot of power for a truck.

That's not really a lot of power considering you can get "normal" trucks with more torque and they can actually do truck stuff.

fliptuner 05-27-2015 12:02 PM

Duramax/Cummins + chip/exhaust/injectors and they still get great mileage.

As others have posted, it's not a lot of power for a truck. Diesels can make 700ft lbs of torque to the wheels quite easily.

It's a 2wd street truck. Can't use it for anything other than straight line rips. It sounds cool though

Wow good deal. Did the seller try to sell it before? Or is it a new seller?

I'm 80% sure it's the same one I checked out a couple of months ago in Coquitlam. I also saw another white one on CL last week.

All the same?

Sales for profit of any number of motor vehicles requires being a registered motor dealer.

Punishable by a fine and or imprisonment: Sections 35(2) and 35.1 of the motor dealer act r.s.b.c 1996 c316

Who comes up with this stuff?

With BMWs, it's all about how well it's been maintained. The M20s can go forever as long as the timing belt and cooling system has been changed regularly.

Yup that looks like a Type-SH and the car also has JDM fog lights.

Even if it has a flawless body imo it's overpriced, a clean engine bay and interior can be done to any car after the fact. Also that interior pic looks different from the rest and old as hell. The part about no mods is a lie as it has JDM foglights and the front side markers have been changed. Lastly since it looks to be an SH make sure it's actually an SH.

As a general notes for a 5th gen Prelude:
- pay special attention to how it feels shifting into gears as the cables are known to stretch (easy fix by swapping to 4g cables and shift box).
- be sure it comes with the red programming key, otherwise you'll be paying a lot of money if you lose the key.
- they take 91 not 94
- the SH has a different block, trans, exhaust routing and front suspension to accommodate the ATTS

They're interference engines during VTEC and the auto tensioners are known to be a weak point so I'd probably do it right away.

Thanks all. I agree with all the above sentiments, and so taking them in addition to the seller making it quite apparent that his price is not negotiable, we decided to not look at the car. It is immaculate but a Prelude is only worth so much, and with the timing belt and a basic tune-up my friend would quickly be into it for $10k (and he was looking to be into it for $8-9k, which is still A LOT imo).

fliptuner 05-27-2015 07:33 PM

Good choice. The seller will eventually realize it'll take a very specific buyer to pay that much. Your buddy's budget is more than enough to get an excellent example.

That's a very generous budget for a Prelude. If he wants a low km example I'd suggest mine (138k) but the paint needs some attention compared to the silver one.

it means the motor was rebuilt with stronger aftermarket components. usually done if someone wants to add forced induction.

in this case i think the motor just needed a rebuild and the guy decided to add a few items to increase the robustness of the engine

Inquired about the purple s14 a couple pages back. Quick question for those who may know, he got a box 1 vi in April. Kind of gave me an interesting story, but otherwise is telling me the cop didn't submit the vi and it has a clean Vin. Is there a way to check if the car still has an outstanding vi?
