2003 GPW Honda S2000

aftermarket front end with a momo wheel and disconnected horn... front end hit?

swfk 05-31-2015 10:58 AM

^Steering wheel with horn disconnected doesn't necessarily mean front end has been hit. Lots of people get lazy to wire the horn button or the cheap hubs have their wires disconnected over time.

thumper 05-31-2015 11:00 AM

oh okay. the last car i looked at that had been in a front end hit had an aftermarket wheel because it was cheaper than replacing the airbag, and then during the inspection they told me the horn didn't work because the cable reel on the hub was damaged, possibly from the deployment.

That would be a cool candidate for a newer 5.0 swap. The body looks great. Get a cowboy hat, blast lynard skinnard, smoke with the windows up and peel out at every intersection.

There's a chance of that but I'm going to guess lazy DIY is the case lol.

Another to consider for that S2000 is that it has 04-05 seats, headlights, front bumper. It might just be a 04 and not a 03. Or an 03 with an identity crisis of parts!

Those aren't 04-05 seats. Looks like seat covers to me.

I agree. And regardless, 04-05 seats were the same design as 00-03.

Also, the ad states that the car has AP2 parts swapped onto it.

The optional sport hardbacks in my 996 are 317% more comfortable than the sport seats in my E36 (which are arguably more comfortable than vaders)

Your seats are dope westo - but if porsche seats are holding you back from porsche ownership, zen zer isssss no pleeezing you

SumAznGuy 05-31-2015 02:46 PM

Sad.

I have a friend who use to work at a body shop that bought, fixed, sold ICBC rebuilds and you are correct. It is much cheaper to put on an aftermarket steering wheel, CF hood, and aftermarket front bumper than it is to get OEM parts.

Some times they every cut out the old air bags and plastic glue the cover close so people buying the cars think there are airbags when there are nothing inside.

All in the name is making a quick buck. :heckno:

Could said shop not be criminally liable should an accident occured and it could be determined that an airbag could lessen the damage on the driver?

That definitely sounds like lawsuits waiting to happen.

fliptuner 05-31-2015 05:08 PM

Sorry to go OT but speaking of airbags, one of the largest manufacturers is facing huge lawsuits over sub-standard bags.

Sorry, but you'd have to be pretty stupid not to notice plastic glue on the airbag seams.

It's just the 996 as a whole doesn't seem worth ditching the e36 for. Not enough of an upgrade for the price differential to me, but the 996 interior as a whole is not as nice as my e36 and the biggest factor in that thought. Seats, dash, steering wheel, etc.
