Can someone school me on RX8's and those damn 1.3L Rotary's..I've been looking into buying one. Are they even worth looking into or are they just going to cost me an arm and a leg to maintain?
those engines can be a pain as theyre supposed to be driven hard but people dont and it builds up carbon which eventually it will seize the engine. I've heard you can put some ATF into the engine to clean it up but otherwise they're ok cars.
At 100km (from what I've heard) is when they start giving problems. If you buy one with that mileage make sure engine is cleaned regularly or it has been rebuilt already.

Never owned a newer one, but had a pair of first Gen 7s.
Make sure you check & top off oil as needed. The engine is designed to burn a small amount of engine oil to lubricate itself. (Some people disable this & run 2 stoke oil, not sure if that's applicable for 8s though.)
I recall hearing that with cool weather, they often flood when trying to start, and that some people install a fuel cut switch to get around that.
It's said that they last longer if you routinely run the Motor through to red line, as it helps to keep from carbon building up and eating your seals. I can't confirm, but I did the with mine, and never had to rebuild.

If you're serious about getting yourself into an RX-8, I'd tend to avoid the earlier model years.
The early RX-8 engines have a tendency to get themselves flooded, esp when the car gets turned off after only a short drive. I seem to think that Mazda didn't get around to fully address the issue until the 06 or 07 cars, so check with an RX-8 forum to see when the engine flooding issues are fixed. I'm reasonably sure that by 08, the newer cars have far fewer problems with engine flooding.
Be prepared for some seriously crappy fuel consumption figures, regardless of whether you flog the car or not. A close friend of mine had one for a few years, and he says that his fuel mileage was easily more than 2x worse than what his sister was getting in an Echo/Yaris.
Delaware hey... I wonder which lawyer/judge/scumbag politician owns that car lol Not sure if any of you have ever looked into the significance of Delaware from a legal/business perspective - it's fascinating.
Spoiler!
"More than half of U.S. publicly-traded companies and fully 64 percent of the Fortune 500 were among that number, according to the state's Division of Corporations. In 2012, more than 90 percent of IPOs were from Delaware legal entities, including Facebook and Yelp."
Go read about it for 10 minutes one day and you'll understand why.

Realistically the best thing to do is buy one with blown seals and swap the engine, so you know you have a good, fresh engine. I think a crate motor from Mazda only costs $2,500 or so.
