Considering it's a US car, it's a little high unless you value the mods.

More DIY-friendly and classic styling. Or, if you're looking to drop 20K on an E60, then why not pony up a few more for a clean E39 M5?

^A clean E39 M5 would cost a lot more, though is a good investment.
E34 doesn't have that modern comfort of a E60 and a manual E34 540i is hard to find. I'd hit that 550i if I were looking for another car.

E39 540s with manuals are far easier to find these days and good examples can be had for less than 10K.

E39 manual is good, but I think the E60 would be a better buy for a more modern feel.

^ Agreed.
Both are good. The E60, compared to the E39, feels more modern and bigger. The tech in both will feel quite dated (pre-iDrive and earlier gen iDrive).
Had an E60 530i and an E39 M5 before. Of the two, I miss the E39 M5 more. The E60 had better steering feel, though, since the E39 uses a recirculating ball steering (as does the other V8s for the E39 era).
E39 M5 prices seem to have bottomed out so that would be a good long term buy.

Good luck finding a clean + well maintained e39 m5 , unless you go to murica.
e39 m5 prices have stopped dropping and now we wait for the e60 m5 prices to drop lower

e60 6spds are not bad. i rebuilt one before and drove around for a cple weeks. Shifter kinda felt like a floppy vagina but the car itself feels very modern. Its too bad they're extremely surrey infested

lots of porschephiles(sp?) here. thought i would post this and see if anyone knows the answer: Quote: Pacific Coast Auto
Porsche people help me.
This car is a 1980 911 SC with the turbo wide body. The seller says that the body panels are original but as far as I can tell, the SC (1978 - 1982?) was never made with a turbo-look body when it didn't come with the turbo engine (930).
It gets weirded still as the seller says it is a 964 turbo-look and the 964 only started from 1989.
Perhaps a VIN check would tell some of the story?
91A0133683 - It is the German VIN (non 17-digit) and shows the car is a 911 SC from 1980 but that is all we can find out as far as I know.

On the interior shot, it still has the stock 911SC bent shifter with the rubber acordian style boot.
Of course, the wing and signals in the mirrors also gives me that feeling too.
