There's lots of reasons people don't want a well kept relatively rare car that they own not to be written off. It's not inconprehendible.

I guess if you are into making profits, then yes, it's better to write it off and have ICBC give him a cheque.

i'm more curious to know if all that work has made it faster or not because of this: Quote: 2465 Garrett ball bearing turbocharger.
makes 20 psi all day long @160hp atw. | these little things weigh something like 1600-1700lbs i think.

I guess if you are into making profits, then yes, it's better to write it off and have ICBC give him a cheque. | I'm guessing when the bumper beam got pulled into that position it didn't come off the frame cleanly. Then you've got the hood, fender, bumper skin, grille, lights, damaged wiring for the lights, likely frame damage, possible suspension damage from the weight, etc etc.

For the Porsche guys 1975 Porsche 911 911S for $28,000 in LANGLEY | autoTRADER.ca
I have no idea what a "Sportamatic" is. A quick google search says they are very rare and very expensive to fix. So, maybe not a good buy...
