If you like the chassis look for a 94-97 Volvo 850 Turbo FWD only. AWD can be finicky. These can be had with way less mileage, and much cheaper. (less that $500-$2000 for a decent one).

Mileage is not really a concern with these cars, just ensure they are not beat on too much, and some maintain has been done over the years.
Some buddies of mine have their 850Ts running less than 14 sec quarter miles and they really don't have a whole lot of cash into it, and so much faster than my 240 will ever be.

This one is the two tone yellow/black one that someone bought and trying to flip it.
Purposely posted no pics to hide how gross it is.

The asking price was $11,500 for months, US car with 180k. Someone mentioned in this thread before saying it was bought from a Kingsway dealer with lots of repairs required. No details.

2002 Honda S2000

Then there's this dude who wanted $4500 at first after an early inquiry(he didn't post a price), as the interested poured in he raised it to $5500 and my friend that offered $4000 got called a tire kicker. For an EG? No thanks!

White civic vx is sold, what price was it listed at before?

white rocket 07-12-2015 01:55 PM

Body kit aside, we're talking about a Left Hand Drive FD here with 31k kms. Priced well IMO.

It's hard to say 'body kit aside', or 'mods aside', because a lot of the times, once a car has had extensive mods, it's far from the worth of it's stock counterpart.

It was best offer only. I was thinking about buying a second VX, that one is pretty clean

kakucaekz 07-12-2015 02:50 PM

That E24 :sweetjesus: So gorgeous it hurts. Thank god I'm poor otherwise I'd have a line of credit and a red BMW sitting in front of the house.

This thread is getting retarded, if I see another "Not sure if good deal but here's an 89 Accord with 287,000kms for $4,000 in Toronto" post I'm going to lose it.

Fort Mac isn't that far away. Plus in Alberta you don't pay tax on private sales.

I think that's a great deal even after you factor in the flight to Fort Mac.

It's a targa with ~200,000kms from Alberta. A great deal is him paying me to come take that car away.

True enough. I just never see a LHD FD for sale so I get a bit excited when one pops up. It more collisions and/or unibody damage that would scare me. Motor swaps back and forth don't really hurt the body itself, especially since finding another make take a while.

The only real perk of a car having extremely low km is the body condition, which gets thrown right out the window when someone's replaced the bumpers, hood and sideskirts.

sleeper?

!Aznboi128 07-13-2015 07:38 AM

The protege 5 and mazdaspeed uses the same block essentially its just a bolt on turbo kit and a lsd tranny. The transmission has been known to fail and the boost really doesn't hit nearly as hard as anyone thinks it would. People generally do a v6 swap from mx-6 to get more power and torque.

TL:DR: not a sleeper

thumper 07-13-2015 08:16 AM

ugh... didn't know that mazdaspeed was junk :(

First gens weren't so great. MS3/6's are different though.

I was under the impression that the 1st gen MS3 and the one and only MS6 are both junk as well. The MS3 was a straight line monster that can't take turns at speed at all, and it had a tendency to eat engine mounts like a coke addicting chasing the high. The MS6 was just unreliable all around. The Legacy 2.5GT was a much better car from the same era, although it, too, wasn't perfect.

Mazdaspeed 3

Posting this as its my friend's car. It's pretty clean and hes looking for a quick sale - I think what he's asking for is pretty reasonable.

I can't speak for the 6 but yes, all first gen 3's had poorly designed right side motor mounts. The stock suspension is okay, not great, not terrible. Nothing a set of mounts and coilovers can't fix.
