That's pretty shady. The original ad didn't state it was a rebuild anywhere and the title was actually listed as "clean".

I guess he get's more interest and prospective buyers by not telling them it's a rebuilt. So they will actually come check out the car before he drops the R word.

2001 Rav4 $1500 OBO

If someone wants to put some time and a few bucks into what could be a solid dd/winter car

sounds like the block is cracked or on its way? (unless its just a gasket..)

fliptuner 07-24-2015 02:22 PM

I like how you jump to the worst possible scenario lol. Waterpump leaks are common on these. If it is a HG, for a sub 1.5K car, I'd probably take my chances with Irontite ceramic seal and see how it goes.

Damn, that's actually a pretty good price... even with some potential issues.

tbh, only thing costly on the car - brakes (the rotors themselves), tires (burn outs everywhere!!!!!) and that stupid COMAND control unit (they all tend to break right after warranty)

Lots of parts shared with run of the mill W204 C classes.

M156 motors are solid.

But waterpump won't make the oil sludgy.. waterpump + warped heads.. It sounds like the owner run it for so long that the cat is gone too.

Thanks to the demise of Aircare.. those things can be on the road.

Its not the cheapest and its silver, but definitely my idea of a great buy for someone looking to get into an e46 m3. 6 speed and cloth interior are a huge find as well as all service records.
