What kind of mechanical work does it need?

Tires / Brakes (not calipers) / Fluids changed / Few minor front suspension parts

On the plus side it had the timing chain + timing guides replaced + new windshield.

Im pretty sure the car was a bank repo, and it looked poorly maintained for its year, I have the accident history hiding somewhere if anyone is interested.

I contacted him yesterday and asked about it, he said the pulley just needs to be replaced which is weird.

Later I found out it was a friend who sold him the ITR for $5000 and told him the engine needs to be (at the very least rebuilt with a new crankshaft), but most likely needed swap.

So buyer beware.

I hope no one on here is stupid enough to buy a non running type r for 10k without a ridiculously thorough inspection.

If all it needs is a crank pulley, i'd still be starting it up to see if it runs. Could even do a compression test on the spot. I don't see the harm in doing either of those. But how does a crank pulled get damaged? I'd be worried about the crank too.

probably the same problem i had before in my old ITR.

the key way on the crank got chipped and the pulley is free spinning.

that one had a bad valve and was running on 3 cylinders, but at least it was still "running"... it's since been fixed and is back on the road. the person who bought it got a great deal.

the tiptronic automatic in the 95-06 Hondas were horrible as they were designed by Honda but built by Chrysler. Most have trouble lasting very long after 200k kms so pretty much, the automatics are only a decent deal for those who can't drive standard at all and are willing to swap in a new trans every 200k or 30k

No idea, someone even posted a warning ad

I'm surprised he still hasn't been honest about the car in his new ad.
