1986 AUDI 5000 CD AVANT TURBO QUATTRO 5SP

Probably an awful car to own (as was the OG sudden acceleration car), and has shady dealer attached to it, but holy crap it's a manual wagon!

That's Splendid Auto. Hardly a shady dealer from what I've seen. I posted this wagon a month ago. Next day ad was taken down (probably sold). Then a couple of weeks ago, ad was back up. Buyer probably backed out or something.

For the price, I'd imagine this thing needs some work. Probably has a leak or two.

Made an offer on that blue NSX today, it needs a LOT of work, it was never actually repaired, they just put the widebody panels over the damage lol

Will be a fun project if he accepts my brutal low ball.

Depends if it's 10 km of stop and go, bumper-to-bumper traffic or a smooth 8-minute drive.

BMW E30 , 5 speed manual 25% LSD , new clutch, BBS rims and tires.
Did not proceed with it because the girlfriend cannot drive standard.

But with the offer I gave with him made it a really sick deal.

From the Rennlist thread:

"Well, heard back from the frame shop. Unfortunately the news is not good.

Passenger side frame is crumpled right by the door. There is a crack in the body about 3/16" wide where the frame meets the cowl on the passenger side. This is also one of the spots where the steering rack mounts to the body, which explains the play in the steering. The passenger side of the frame is "several inches" shorter than the driver side. Front passenger side tie rod has some play in it, but not bad. Both rear tie rods are bent. The owner of the shop is supposed to send me photos of the carnage, which I can relay on to any interested parties.

Car will also need a timing belt and water pump. I can find no evidence that they have ever been done. Most also do the clutch at this time, as the engine has to come out anyway. My mechanic quoted me about $2k parts and labor for the whole job.

The car can be fixed but it obviously won't be cheap. The owner is now selling the car on best offer basis, he wants to disclose everything that was found and get out of the car. If anyone is interested, any serious offers will be considered."

In my experience, a lot of wide body and modded cars are put together like shit, even ones that weren't crashed.. the hacks that build a lot of those SEMA cars also do shit work.

It all looks good from 10 feet away though under the right light.

I got pictures of the damage on the chassis this morning, was pretty pathetic. Literally a hole in the pass side frame/apron near the firewall.

Here are some highlights

This pic is part of the unibody frame, it's actually fairly accessible.

Spoiler!

Crack in chassis near steering rack, looks like they tried to bond-fy it.

One of three bent arms... very likely there are more.

Ultimately the accident was never fixed, they probably put it up on the rack and pulled it until the wheels looked straight, did the best alignment they could, and popped on the wide body.

Because of this approach, much of the subframe and suspension arms in the front will probably be bent and fucked.

From what I've learned and read so far on BMWs you want your engine to reach full operating temp (so running and driving for around 30 minutes) or else your crankcase ventilation valve will get clogged with shit eventually resulting in oil consumption or even potentially hydra-locking (depending where clog occurs engine can suck oil up from the pan). IF anyone is in fact interested in this car one way to check if the CCV if Fcked it to remove the oil cap and check for a mayonaise-like substance built up under the cap. Someone please correct me if i'm wrong

It really shouldn't take 30 minutes to get your oil to operating temp...
