Hmm... Could it be a clutchless manual? (we've all seen that topgear segment of james may parallel parking on a hill, haven't we?)

However, it is an auto. Lame. But according to Wiki, they came with 6-speed manuals. Doesn't look like the V6 came with a manual. Also, 190 hp is kinda lame too. And fwd. Looks like they made awd ones but much later.
From Wikipedia: Quote:
Starting from 1999 five-speed Selespeed sequential transmission came as an option to 2.0 litre Twin Spark version and four-speed automatic Q-System to 2.5 litre V6 version,[11] the Q-system can be used as normal automatic or shift manually with H-pattern,[3] it has three automatic modes: city, sport and ice.
A significant addition to the 156 range was the Sportwagon estate in 2000, a first attempt at an estate car of this size for the company. Sportwagon was also available with Boge-Nivomat self-levelling hydropneumatic rear suspension.[12] The Sportwagon was marketed as lifestyle estate without large carrying capacity.[13] The Sportwagon bodystyle filled a gap in the market that Alfa Romeo had distanced themselves from since the 33 SportWagon of the 1980s.
| Looks like the 156 GTA would be the one to watch for, coming out in 2001, with 247 hp. But limited production.
And finding parts for this thing would be a nightmare, and so pricey.
All that aside...I still kinda want it. Just looks so badass!

I'm still tempted to own another R56 - mine was a lemon, but was a super fun car to own when it ran.

There are a few on craigslist right now under $45k | seems reasonable considering theyre almost 10 years old now, they were 80-100k new. if anything id say theyve held their values better than comparable euro sports cars
