2003 Mazda Protege MAZDASPEED EDITION 5Spd A/C BC VEHICLE REALLY SHARP

I love these cars. Curious how shit-kicked this one is considering the price.
What are the common issues with these vehicles?

Don't forget a really shitty tranny that will fail under stock boost.
The good thing though, it is the same tranny as a regular Protege except it has an LSD.

That particular example is also missing it's Racing Hart rims and has stock Protégé ones on it...

white rocket 01-07-2016 03:47 PM

^^yup. noticed that. No biggie for me. I actually like the charcoal grey color better than the mango or yellow that they offered.

<---really doesn't need a fifth car but where's the fun in that? Ha!

Also not that it would effect the value that much, looks like the stock kenwood subwoofer/amp combo is missing from the rear shelf, or at least that dangling wire in the trunk.

Pretty cheap for a GR STi. Not sure why besides the higher mileage.
Not sure if its been posted before.

When I had my 944 I was pretty active on Rennlist, and Renegade Hybrids were often discussed. The purists didn't like them of course, but they were/are a very respected swap company specializing in swapping Porsches. So I wouldn't doubt the quality of the swap, the owner who did this spent a pretty penny on it back in the day.

I would personally prefer a mint 89 951 with the original engine, but this car for sale would be tons of fun and probably cheaper to maintain. Plus you get the looks and the handling of a 951.

A bit steep for an asking price but decent 951s are getting harder to find these days.

EDIT: Many custom parts made by Renegade to make this swap work. Swap kit alone is $2100 USD, plus installation and bring your own engine. And you probably want to upgrade to some of their custom optional parts to make the swap worthwhile.

20k for a theft recovery burning oil type r? Lolololo

tegra7 01-10-2016 10:13 AM

Pretty sure he meant theft claim(break in) not a theft recovery.

thumper 01-10-2016 10:27 AM

how much is the k20 swap worth? not that i would do it... better off in a normal integra. i would rather keep the heart pure and rebuild the original engine, which is expected to burn at this mileage... but like someone already said $20k is a lot to ask for.

pretty sure 15 years ago many people would have said the same about an e30 m3.

white rocket 01-10-2016 06:39 PM

That's not a terrible deal. The claim amounts are listed at $400 and $2500. That's fuck all. Basically a clean title stock ITR turn key ready AND a complete K swap with accessories. All those parts have go to be worth $5k. Maybe it's a terrible deal comparing it to prices from a year ago.

freakshow 01-10-2016 06:50 PM

I don't know if this is a good deal or bad deal... but it's definitely my favourite way blocking out the license plate..

Pretty good looking car! Look to be in good shape all around. Love the sedan + hatch style. Would be a fun beater I think.
