Owned an AP1 for a number of years and sold it last year. Definitely miss the car, but would not want to consider one at these prices today. But part of that rationale is because I want to try a number of different cars in my lifetime.

I think your point about them being in the "realm of ... reasonable" is also what's keeping the asking prices high, along with the exchange rate (and supply and upcoming spring). A 997 GT3 RS is pricey pricey, while an S2000 at $20k+ is also still pricey, but is easier for more people to justify, when you look at the absolute dollar figures.

When I was in the process of selling my S2K, my wife told me not to do it. Her rationale was because I loved the car and she said that I'd regret it. Turns out she was right. :okay:

At least you know you have a great wife.

To be honest as retarded as the prices have gotten in comparison to before, they still are in the realm of being reasonable for what you get IF its a prime example of one.

I probably wouldn't go the S2k route at the prices that are being advertised. I'd like to know what sellers are actually getting for them though.

Sometimes I think of selling my 2001 AP1 mostly because I don't use it that much. With the way the prices are climbing though it doesn't make sense to sell it. I purchase 6 months of car insurance for the year and do a couple oil changes so it costs me about $800/yr to keep it which seems to be less than it's appreciating. It's basically like having a free car! I don't really need the money so I may as well hang on to it. If I put my original AP1 wheels back on and through the factory radio back in, I would have one of those bone stock models that seem to be popular..

Former s2k owner here and I think I'd still buy at about $25k for a mint one. As much as I hate to see it appreciating, I still cannot think of an equivalent car that I would enjoy very much for similar prices. Goes to show how shitty cars are these days. If it appreciates further, I might be tempted to consider ND though. I enjoyed it when I test drove one although I still miss the high revving engine. We also need a car manufacturer that can make a car that shifts so damn well like s2k.

What's the rationale of the M2 over the 997 C4S?

this isn't the one you had in the showroom last year tofu? it has a brian jessel sticker on the decklid, but then again that could be from when it was brand new...

[EDIT]i just contacted the seller and he is the original owner of this 1M since new, so it's not the same one :o

There isn't all that much exciting about that particular porsche. So-so colour combo/spec. Blitzkrieg is not who I'd really want to buy a car from either. The fact that they actually have a very capable shop, and have sold overpriced cars with laundry lists worth of problems (they are disclosed) and have services already drawn up for people to squeeze more money is really poor business in my opinion. Its a shame because as a shop they have been great. If you are charging a premium, it better be a premium product when you drive off the lot.
On top of all that, the M2 is RWD, has a usable backseat, is cheaper, and will stand out much more.

bcrdukes 03-03-2016 07:59 AM

Blitzkrieg as a shop = A+
Blitzkrieg to buy cars from = F-

When buying cars from Blitzkrieg, you are dealing with two different people. The owner of the shop is a stand up guy. The guy who sells cars is a business man. I liked them better when they were just a shop, but hey, when you gotta pay the bills and put food on the table, you do what you gotta do.

thumper 03-03-2016 08:14 AM

i'm not that familiar with blitzkrieg... but are they somehow together with gord's auto repair, or are they just adjacent to each other?

bcrdukes 03-03-2016 08:24 AM

They just happen to be side-by-side in the same building. They are not affiliated at all.

not a good deal imo, way too many kms....it would be a good deal if it had 30,000kms or lower.

Stay with the M2 skiipi, it is the performance bargain of the year

I remember about 3yrs ago, when I sold my 996 GT3 and was considering getting a 997 GT3, they were in the low to mid 70s USD on Rennlist all day long, gotta luv the pcar tax!

I wonder if the 991R will put any pricing pressure on the 997 GT3/RSs?

westopher 03-03-2016 08:47 AM

Not in the slightest. No one can even fucking buy them. There are 991 made and they are already sold out to people who are going to either lock them in a warehouse or sell them for double on eBay. If Trump gets elected the U.S economy should crumble though and bring gt3 prices down.

+1. It was an unpleasant experience selling my car to them.

I've still yet to receive my transfer form back...
