cool car, not sure if it qualifies as a "good buy"

kunoman1 05-05-2014 04:45 PM

Almost bought one of those in highschool, I think it was listed for 7000 2 years ago. Pretty sweet car imo, but maybe not 10000 cool

Same exact thoughts. Too many people buy for low and sell for high on CL.

This is a bad craigslist deal. If i remember correctly, this sold for around 6-7?

The_AK 05-05-2014 08:15 PM

lol this thread consists mainly of pieces of sht that are interesting cars but no one would ever truly consider when the need for a car arises

ae101 05-05-2014 08:42 PM

seriously that 1990 white accord is still the best deal there is on this thread as the price was a steal for DD

2000 Lexus GS 300 Moonroof Genuine Wood & Leather Interior Power Mem in Richmond BC | VIN: JT8BD68S1Y0096267

a gs300 for $1,800.

afadafa 05-06-2014 08:51 AM

Just walked over to check this out. Apparently it already has 4 people waiting in line for it. Two out of the four having deposits on it. The body is pretty banged up as expected for $1,800. Front bumper/fenders on left and right sides are dented in with rust and rear bumper having a lot of scratches. The salesman started it up for me and I noticed a CEL on, not only that but a flashing CEL. Also noticed an old sticker reading 'ADESA'. According to the salesman, it has no ICBC claims. Didn't inquire any further since there are multiple deposits on it. I'm pretty sure most of them are phone-ins though and haven't actually seen the car itself. I expect they might all bail after seeing the condition lol.

On the topic of neat cars that aren't good buys…. Although I highly doubt there are many other minty RX7's out there...
1984 RX7 GSL-SE Original body style

Anything that cheap, at a bigger dealership, will have problems. Wholesaler probably wouldn't even take it for more than scrap lol.

Im genuinely considering purchasing the cars I post on this thread, I just want to throw up the good deals in case someone wants to pick it up before I move back. Id rather a good deal goes to a car enthusiast who will drive and love it then someone who purchases as an investment

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. But I would consider driving most of the cars presented in this thread.

Is this a good buy ? Hows the maintenance on this car? Can any regular mechanic person do it? 1981 DELOREAN DMC-12

fliptuner 05-06-2014 03:49 PM

It's on the high end. Although, the DMC resto might make it worth more than most. Mechanically, pretty straightforward but a lot of the parts are off different cars.

StanleyR 05-06-2014 03:52 PM

I love that the only thing differentiating the DMC engine, from that offered in the 260 series Volvo's at the time, is that black metal plate at the top of the motor.

Explains why that car was so terribly slow!

Not a good buy. I was pricing deloreans for a long time.. the market is so unique that they'll be VERY lucky to find a buyer at that price.

Normal deloreans are in the 20-25 range, and restored ones can go way higher.. but that doesn't make them a good buy.

i've seen fully 'restored' deloreans with stage 10 engine, stage 7 suspension, 500 shot nos and they want 60k. i'm sure they spent a lot on it.. but it takes a very special person to spend 60k+ on a delorean..

A 'good buy' delorean would be 20k in tip top shape, or 15k and needs a bit of work.

I went through all the links on this thread since it's been started.

Most of the listings are no longer available (author deleted). It tells me that other people saw the value and purchased the vehicles.

And how many people would DD a '58 Roadmaster or a high mileage M5? :concentrate:

GS8 05-07-2014 03:12 PM

Holy shit

1991 V8 Thunderbird

EDIT: Another cheap Birdy
