To be honest I dont know much about the FX's, I was looking for the performance/sound of a V8, but if its pretty close i'll check out the fx35's. I have a QX4 now and i think they are similar motors as the 35? was just looking for a lil more power.
I dont drive that much, a couple blocks to work so the gas mileage isnt a huge deal breaker for me, i would rather have the smile factor of a throaty v8!

i like this one, but it has a bubbling dashboard and is out of warranty. apparently its big money to replace.

If you have a garage spot and its ACTUALLY as described, that could be a great buy. S50 and good coils could be in that car for 5k and make a crazy fun car.

So if one wanted an E36 M3 engine and transmission, a decent suspension and brakes, what would this cost in the bimmer world.

I'd go straight to a Ford 302 since I'm lazy, unless an E36 swap is really easy.

The QX4 (R50) uses the same engine 3.5 L VQ35DE V6 as the FX35 (S50). On the FX, the V6 produces ~300 HP, while the V8 produces ~320 HP. :yuno:

Much like meme405 said, the power benefit of the V8 is marginal.

The dealer is Jonker Honda in Langley. They are cheap, and have been for many years. The owner is a multi millionaire, but every year the employees HAVE TO put money into a fund to buy him a nice Xmas present. A few years back they bought him a couple thousand dollar TV. Again, he is a multi millionaire who could easily afford to buy himself the finer things in life. Instead, he prefers if his employees, many of whom are paycheck to paycheck, buy him a present. Its a joke.

Those engines are $$$$$$$ and chances are the short block in that car is no bueno, usually cylinder wall failure or IMS.

If anything find a smashed one and use the parts to fix it, or a theft recovery with good engine.

HP isn't always everything. There is a big torque difference between the V6 and V8. The 35 puts out 270 ft lbs of torque compared to the 45's 330ft lbs. That would make quite the difference off the line.
